WHEN, WHY AND HOW OFTEN DO WE AERATE A LAWN

WHEN WE DO IT? Late Autumn & Winter 📅
Aeration treatments are carried out during the winter between November and March. However, we may recommend a different time of year for specific lawns.

WHY WE DO IT? Reduce Soil Compaction 🌱
Aeration is the best way of reducing soil compaction, and allows the exchange of gases from the soil underneath your lawns. Aeration is also an essential process to help reduce moss levels and improve surface drainage.

HOW OFTEN DO WE DO IT? Once Per Year 🔢
In order to consistently maintain a healthy lawn, aeration must be carried out annually. Aeration is included in our standard treatment programme.

What’s Included in Our Early Summer Treatment? 🌞

Summer is the time of year when all our customers want their lawn to look its best. The fertiliser that was applied to your lawn in spring will contribute to this, but the feed we apply during this treatment will ensure that your lawn remains thick and green throughout the summer.

We use micro-granular feeds at this time of year, tailored for the requirements of your lawn. Major factors that have to be considered at the time of this lawn treatment are the development of common lawn diseases in this season, and the likeliness of any drought conditions over the coming weeks.

Drought conditions can stress your lawns and cause further problems, therefore a fertiliser that provides better stress control may be applied.

W**d-killer is applied if required to deal with any new w**ds that may have appeared in your lawn.

In order to survive, most lawns in the UK need regular rain or water, to replace the moisture that grass absorbs from the soil. Grass can survive for a few weeks without water, however after this period, some symptoms of stress may appear. Grass may turn a silvery-blue colour, and the turf may look flat as the grass wilts and loses it’s natural green colour.

If you are watering your flowers and baskets, please remember that your lawn is a plant too, and therefore it requires just as much water.

Due to the natural slowdown of turf's reproduction rate, it is recommended to over-seed your lawn once a year to maintain its thickness and density. Over-seeding can help compensate for grass decline, and instead, rejuvenate the grass, leading to improved overall health. Additionally, over-seeding can fill in sparse areas or bare patches, often caused by foot traffic, resulting in a denser lawn that is less prone to the growth of moss and w**ds.

Always nice to have a happy customer.
Well done Peter.

Paul,

Please pass on to Peter, your Feed & W**d specialist, my appreciation for the Stirling job he did here on March 29.
My lawn is now the best looking greensward in the Main Street - by a long chalk.

Well done, boys!

Best wishes

Jeff Harrison

What’s Included In Our Spring Treatment?

Spring is often the time homeowners start using our services. Our fertiliser choice at this time of year is based on how your lawns have fared throughout the winter months.

After an analysis of your lawns current condition, our lawn care operatives will apply a fertiliser that will be most beneficial. We typically avoid using high amounts of nitrogen as this can cause problems as we move further into the year. Too much nitrogen can also cause excessive growth.

W**ds are also controlled during this application with selective w**d-killers to specifically eliminate the w**ds that are growing in your lawns.
