Get your riding boots on!

Our qualified trek leaders will be taking small groups of riders on a one day adventure with our home-bred registered Fell ponies. This day-long hack follows part of an ancient pack horse route with stunning views of Lake Windermere and the Lakeland fells on a scenic circular route spanning approximately 7 miles.

*Please note:
Suitable for competent riders only.
The minimum age for riders is 11 yrs old.
The weight limit for riders on our ponies is 12.5 stone (80Kg).
We are not able to take novice riders as we have no suitable area for schooling.

🥰 Murthwaite Green 2002 - 2023 🥰

Well it’s certainly been a week of mixed emotions. The last beach rides - finally in some dry weather….December has been a tough month!!! Horses have moved to new pastures, all with lovely new owners. Some of the horses will stay here….couldn’t let them all go!!!!
I want to take this opportunity to thank all my family, friends, staff, customers and supporters from over the last 21 years. Because of all of you I have had the most amazing adventure running Murthwaite Green. There have been ups and downs, tears and laughter, and the best of friendships that will last a lifetime.
Thank you all for the messages, cards, gifts and kind words. It really does mean so much. I will certainly enjoy my spa!!!
It’s onto new adventures for me - less mud, less rain, and no more weather watching!!! There’s no doubting, it will be strange but I will enjoy more time with my family and with Ruby.
Thanks again to each and every one of you….it’s been a blast 🥰🏇🥰🏇

What a way to start 2024!!!!
Finally…..we had a dry and sunny beach ride!!!! Long overdue after the last month of snow, wind and non stop rain.
I’m hoping that the last couple of rides will be as dry and enjoyable as todays!!!!

Wishing all my friends, customers, supporters etc a very Happy Xmas. We have battled wind and rain on our Christmas rides this week, so we had to ditch the tinsel!!!

After a week of snow chaos and cancelled rides we finally managed to get out on the first of our festive beach rides 🎄🏇🤶. We stayed dry, but unfortunately the later ride weren’t as lucky 🙈🌧️🌧️

I have been completely overwhelmed by the posts, comments and messages. It means so much to me that my wonderful horses have helped so many peoples dreams come true. I am truly humbled by the response, and thank you all from the bottom of my heart. I am in the process of finding wonderful new homes for my lovely horses, and a couple might just be staying here!!!!
Going forward, just a few things for your information:

I will no longer be taking card payments, so cash or bank transfer only please.
If you have a gift voucher due to expire this year, please get booked in and use it as I won't be offering refunds.
If you have purchased a gift voucher that doesn't expire until next year, and you are unable to make it before we close, please get in touch.

And finally.....here are the dates I have left for beach rides until I close the stable doors for good!!!!

CLOSURE

After 21 amazing years, Murthwaite Green will be closing for business at the end of 2023. This isn’t a decision that I have taken lightly, and one that I have been thinking about for quite a while. Over the last 12 months many things have changed both on a personal level and a business level, and it feels like the time is right to retire before my body completely breaks!! My plan is to move onto something different, a little less physically demanding and to spend more time with my family (especially my lovely Mum). Sometimes things happen in life that make you question your priorities and force you to make difficult decisions…..this is one of those times!

I’ve had an amazing 5 years since my restructure in 2019. I have loved the more personal approach and have met some wonderful people, but it has been extremely tough physically keeping everything running single handedly! I don’t think I have another winter in me 😂😂

Obviously some of my lovely horses will be available for purchase once I close, so if anybody is interested please pm me for details, my priority is to make sure they all go to wonderful homes. I am also still taking bookings until the end of the year, but obviously I won’t be selling any gift vouchers.

I understand how disappointing this will be to so many people, and I would like to take this opportunity to thank all my customers, supporters, friends and family from the bottom of my heart. Without all of you, the last 21 years wouldn’t have been possible. I feel privileged to have had this opportunity, and I will always look back on it as the most amazing experience. I now have to put my health and my family first. Ruby & I definitely plan to become a fair weather horse and rider combo!!! 🥰🥰🥰🥰

After the constant drenching I’ve got every day this week, I was well overdue a dry beach ride!!! Today certainly didn’t disappoint - lovely customers, horses on top form and, more importantly, no 🌧️🌧️!!!!
I feel tomorrow might be another story 🙈……
