A little birdie told us that at some stage this year, we may see some sunshine!

In preparation for this fluke event, the team has built a new sunshine platform at Pilgrim Corner with lovely views across the gardens and rooftops.

It's the perfect place to relax after a dip in the hot tub, to drink an aperitif or enjoy a few pages of your favourite book.

Thanks to our recent guests at The Oval Dunster for leaving the following review. We know you love the Cliff Railway as much as us, so we hope you like our selection of photos.

"This was our first stay at The Oval and second Exmoor Character Cottages holiday. What can I say? It was an absolute delight from start to finish! Lucy and the team were fantastic hosts as ever, consistently going the extra mile to make our stay special.

As well as being hosted for a special pre-birthday dinner by Lucy on the first night, she kindly booked a table for us Reeves Restaurant Dunster - the perfect place for a high quality food (strongly recommend the lemon sole). You're spoilt for choice in terms of the selection of cafes in Dunster itself - the Castle Coffee House, Dunster (try out the savoury scone) and the Mill Tea Rooms were great places for a pit stop.

We ventured into the wilds of on the Sunday, visiting Lynton and Lynmouth. Sunday lunch at The Rising Sun went down a treat, and - as a bit of a train buff myself - you can't go wrong with a trip on the renowned Cliff Railway. All in all, yet another wonderful holiday with the personal touch courtesy of Lucy and all the team at Exmoor Character Cottages. We've already booked for September!
