🐛☀️🌳 Bugs, bugs, bugs! 🌳☀️🐛
Another beautiful week in the forest! The sun shone and the bugs came out to play. We found grasshoppers, crickets, caterpillars, butterflies, beetles and spiders, all living in the long grass 💚
Plus a fab party with one of my fave themes - Minecraft! We scavenged, we built, we “mined”, crafted and brewed, and of course cooked on a fire 🔥 The birthday boy’s uncle made a superb chest too, which contained the party bags!
We had some new faces join us for Tree Tots, taking advantage of the additional PAYG spaces we are offering this term too, which was really lovely. 💚 Nature weaving with a year 1 class on their school trip yesterday. They did a fabulous job! This was a tricky one and whist some children found it frustrating at first, we used resilience and perseverance to complete the task 💪 They we’re all very happy with the results and feeling super proud of their achievement 💚

Making Rainbows 🌈 and a Teddy Bears’ Picnic 🧺
Little round up of the week just gone. We’ve been focusing on spring weather 🌦️ and rainbows this week, embracing the changeable conditions from warm sunshine to hiding from hailstones (this was the most fun!) and exploring light, colour and rainbows too!
Tues: Nursery hunted for colours as we walked to the forest, then enjoyed lots of colour play, including colour mixing with paint and water. The water sprayers were out and we experimented with making rainbows in patches of sun ☀️
Home Ed also made rainbows with water sprayers and hunted the forest for colours, but with the added excitement of a hailstorm! We collected hailstones, compared sizes, felt how cold they were and watched them melt in our hands. Home Ed experimented with colour, making “Newton’s discs” spinners, using palm drills to drill holes in wood cookies, finding sticks to fit in the centre and painting with primary and secondary colours 🎨
Thurs & Fri: All of our Tree Tots groups enjoyed the story “Wow! Said the Owl” 🦉 and enjoyed hunting for colours in the forest. A game of “twit twoo” hide and seek for some groups too. Using our senses to look, listen and touch as we searched. Lots of play exploring colour and more rainbow spinner making for our 3-4s.
Saturday: A Teddy Bears’ picnic birthday party for a special little girl 💚 We hunted for the missing bears so they could join Edward at the spring picnic, we gathers items from the forest to make the bears a picnic and marvelled at their terrible table manners 🤣 We then went to play in the mud kitchen, cafe and sand, making more delicious food for the bears. The hammocks were very popular too! Finished off with a forest picnic with our bears and of course the classic caterpillar birthday cake! 🎂
