Who’s been lucky enough to see (or hear) the Ludham Ukulele Band perform at the staithe? Our biggest dilemma is always whether to enjoy the performance from our garden or to walk around and be front row!

Ahhh morning coffee on the deck before the sun pops over the roof of The Limes. Autumn and winter is definitely coffee sitting by the river on the quay head in the amber sunrise, summer it has to be the decking so we can watch the light spread across the garden.

We’re still wondering if summer is happening or not, but, the clouds add some drama to the sunset over Womack Water when you’re relaxing on the decking.

We’ve been making memories with our kids at The Limes since we bought it, we hope it’s the little things they remember, like when you’re 5 years old, casually float fishing roach and your bright pink fishing rod gets flexed over by a fighting perch but you manage to land it.
We love our little haven on the broads and hopefully it brings the same joy and fond memories to everyone.

So good to see some beautiful chunky and great condition bream being landed from our quay head. After all the reports of salt surge and otter predation it is such a welcome site to see.

Who’s been to the open gardens / car show? This year looked spectacular! Plenty of people attending, some beautiful cars, amazing gardens, a chance to see The Limes from the opposite bank and a look around hunters and the wherry trust

Our first guests of the new fishing season had some of Womack water’s finest in their nets last week and were kind enough to share some pictures. Right now we’re torn between jealousy seeing some of the catches and relief knowing we still have some beautiful fish at the end of our garden 😍😍😍

Who got to wet a line on Sunday? We managed to get out and had plenty of fish between the showers!

If you asked our dog “what’s the plan for Sunday?” I’m sure he would tell you “it’s Father’s Day and the first day of the fishing season, we’ll grab the tackle box, rods, some beer and head to the broads”.
Our dog isn’t always the smartest, but this perfect Sunday (weather forecast excluded) has planned itself and we’re all excited!

We could sit by the water everyday quite happily, but, it’s even better when we’re fishing.

We don’t talk enough about Ludham, we love our village, the friendly people, handy shops, the great pubs, pretty church, good play area for the kids, garage, doctors …. And has anyone been to the car show and open gardens? They even have a ferry to get you around!

With our own lawn cut and looking green, we thought we best check the village and over at Thurne … both looked good and the pubs seemed fine while we were checking in. 🍺

The perfect location, whether you’re sat in the garden, the lounge, the quay head or the deck looking out, or, on the water back looking back, we think The Limes is not only a great cottage but the location on Womack Water is the best of the broads.

The hire boats are returning to the staithe, shops are opening up and we’re 6 weeks(ish) from fishing season … if the weather settles we will be really feeling like holiday season is starting.

April showers, warmer days … the water level is up but it’s beautiful if you dodge the downpours!

For a couple of days this week (minus the wind) it felt like summer was on the way.

Life on the broads…. You go to sleep in absolute peace, tired from a paddle admiring the rivers calm and the staithe empty. You wake up early to the clattering of a goose ungraciously landing on the roof followed 2 hours of honking!
We wouldn’t change it 😍

It’s starting to feel like holiday season, our lawn is cut, hedges trimmed, deck and quay head cleared. We still have some weeks available, check our website for dates and to get your holiday booked

The Broads are waking up! Tomorrow is the last day of fishing, but, the weather is slowly improving, the moorings are seeing boats again and The Big Shop (on the staithe) is open again (08:00 - 16:00 for now).
We have a couple more little jobs to complete and “dewinterise” but it’s feeling like holiday season
