Had a lovely afternoon at Lowther Castle and Gardens, 30 mins drive away, nice cafe, walks and you can hire bikes (including electric ones). Great place to visit.

Ullswater is only a 30 minute drive from The Sparrows, we love paddleboarding, but there are lots of other options - kayaking, going on the steamer , walking or wild swimming to name a few! We can give you information before your trip, just ask!

We used some gaps between guests to tackle some flaking paint on the front of the house. It got worse before it got better, but we think The Sparrows is looking very smart now in it's new coat! (The peonies are glorious too ).

The River Eden is a short walk away - lovely to see the goslings and ducklings on the river at this time of year.

We've just had 2 swift nesting boxes fitted - hoping we can persuade some swifts along to join our resident sparrows!
