Mable's is a pet friendly two bedroom, self catering detached cottage in Uig, Isle of Skye, Scotland close to the ferry terminal to the Western Isles.

Mable's Cottage is a two bedroom, self catering detached cottage set in half an acre of mature gardens with splendid views over Glen Conon. We are just under a mile from the famous 'Fairie Glen' featured in the film 'Stardust' and a mile and a half from the Caledonian MacBrayne ferry terminal at Uig Pier which has daily sailings to the Outer Herbrides (Western Isles). The Uig Hotel is a ten minute

walk and offers great food and drink. Mable's has a gated driveway and can park up to four cars on the gravel drive. We have two comfortable bedrooms, one with a King Sized double bed, the other with either a Super King Sized double or twin beds. The bathroom has a 'P' shaped bath with regulated shower over the bath and unlimited hot water. The comfortable living room has a flat screen TV and Sky+ box and multi fuel stove, with oil fired central heating throughout the house. Both bedrooms have flat screen TV's with freeview while the kitchen has a flat screen TV with freesat and, of course, WiFi is available throughout. Our kitchen is fully functional and provides everything you need. Our utility room has a tall fridge with matching freezer, microwave, dishwasher and washing machine. We also have a small reading room upstairs with a leather Chaise Longue, side cabinet and table with great views over the glen for those who want to get away from it all. Outside, the grounds are well fenced so that your four legged friends can roam about without fear of escaping (providing you have closed the gates behind you). we have a lovely twin rocking chair looking down the glen and a picnic table and barbecue. To the rear of the garden are various benches for sitting and watching the fantastic sunsets on those late summer nights. We supply dog bowls, beds, towels, throws and poo bags for your best friends to make them feel welcome too. We believe we have thought of just about everything to make your stay a relaxed and enjoyable one so please come and have a look for yourself.

On 15th August 2024, we adopted this amazing Tri-pawed Staffie called Mabel, from The Northern Stafford Bull Terrier Rescue, in Ulverston.
So that Bob Whittall and his remarkable team can continue their excellent work, we would like to raise some much-needed funding for the NSBTR and have decided to raffle a 7-night holiday at Mable's Cottage-Skye for up to four people and their dogs.

Ticket prices are £5 each. The draw will be live online on Sunday 27th October 2024.

The winner must be able to take one of the following weeks in 2025:
Fri 21st - Fri 28th Feb
Fri 7th - Fri 13th Mar or
Fri 31st Oct - Fri 7th Nov

We've just adopted a new member of the family.
Mabel is 2 y.o. Staffy with 3 legs. She lost her front left leg in a road accident when she was 6 months old.
She can't wait for her first holiday at Mable's Cottage in a fortnight.

A beautiful day on Skye today. Harry enjoyed his walk especially watching a rare sighting of a CalMac ferry docking rather than being "in dock" awaiting repairs.

We recently said a final farewell to our beloved Sweetie. She absolutely loved the freedom that the garden at Mable's Cottage offered her. She was completely deaf and didn't get on with other dogs so our secure garden gave her the chance to be off the lead and able to explore on her own.

We decided to place some of her ashes in a pot on the front step with a plaque bearing her name and a Philadelphious plant which should give white, fragrant flowers in the spring and summer.

We are sad that we have just said our good-byes to Sweetie.
Her back legs had given up a while ago and her front legs were feeling the strain.
We noticed blood in her urine a week ago and knew that her time had come. We had an agonising wait for the vet to come today and help her along to the rainbow bridge. However, this morning, she had a Reiki session with our great friend and neighbour Diane to relax her and a push down to the railway viaduct along the bridal from us in Foster's buggy. We came home and she a little lie down outside in some rare sunshine before putting away her lunch.

She passed away with some help from the vet in her favourite spot on the sofa while being cuddled by her mum and dad. She was very peaceful at the end and it was quick and pain free for her. My god she is going to leave massive hole in our hearts.

Rest in peace little Sweetie.
