More details about our MacMillan Fund Raising Event on Friday 27th September...

Who is coming to join us on the 27th as we hold an event to raise money for this worthy cause as well as giving you the opportunity to meet 2 of our fantastic suppliers?

The event will start at 10am and in the morning you will have the opportunity to chat to Leiza from APT Touring who specialise in group tours and river cruises. Book a trip with them and you will enjoy once-in-a-lifetime experiences with this luxury travel operator.

From 1pm Mathew from Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines will join us to chat about their 3 smaller ships which can take you to more interesting places as well as sailing from Liverpool.

How would you cope with no phones, no VIP treatment and no flights when trying to race across the world? It would not be fun for me!

Tonight on BBC1 at 9pm 4 celebrities along with a family member will start their journey in Celebrity Race Across The World.

I am very excited as they will start their trip in Belem, Brazil and pass through 5 checkpoints before they reach their final checkpoint in Chile. Looking forward to seeing some of the places I have been lucky enough to visit.

A full day tour in Sao Miguel which is the largest island in the Azores. We arrived in Ponta Delgada and headed to A Porto do Diabo, Mosteiros and Sete Cidades before we enjoyed a delicious lunch in a local restaurant. Then onto the beautiful Santiago Lake followed by the Green and Blue lakes (sadly you cannot see the colour difference). Still more places to visit so will no doubt be back! The island is stunning.

Had another fantastic day in Praia da Vitoria. Our taxi took us around most of the island and we ended up at Algar do Carvao (Cavern of coal) which is situated in the Central part of the island and is an ancient lava tube or volcanic vent. Lots of steps but worth the walk!

After 3 days at sea we are now arriving into our first port of call Praia da Vitoria in the Azores. The Azores are an archipelago and Praia da Vitoria is on the 2nd largest island of Terceira. I have booked a taxi for the day and looking forward to exploring as the sun has finally shown it's face.

Lazy Sunday as we sail towards the Azores. Weather is getting better by the day and hope it improves again tomorrow. Enjoyed Sunday lunch and then chilled before Captain’s Welcome Onboard cocktails before dinner. Great day as "The Golden Girls" did the 10pm quiz and great news was that we were the winning team. Bottle to enjoy with the canapés and now time to get ready for dinner in my favourite restaurant Colours and Taste.

Left Liverpool today on Bolette as we sail for 13 nights on our cruise heading to the Azores, Madeira and Portugal.

Hope to find some spotting whales and dolphins before we get to explore the beautiful Azores. Got lots of tours booked so will be posting lots of photos of our cruise. Now looking forward to having 3 days at sea before we arrive in Ponta Delgada. Fingers crossed that the lakes will be 2 different colours this time!

Eighty years ago the world witnessed the largest navel, air and land operation in history as an allied armada of planes, ships and landing craft along with 156,000 troops began the invasion of Northern France. D-Day marked the start of the liberation of France and Western Europe. Today we are honouring the amazing heroism of all of these brave soldiers.

Several years ago I was very lucky to enjoy a river cruise on the Seine where we visited some of the D-Day landing sites and memorial in Normandy. t was lovely to see how well maintained everywhere was as a tribute to everyone who was involved as well as being able to pay tribute to all of the World War II heroes.

Arrived early so headed down to see Cunard's Queen Anne for the first time. Hoping that the weather will improve.

I am very excited to be heading to Liverpool on Monday 3rd June as Queen Anne will make her debut in Liverpool, Cunard’s spiritual home, where she will be officially named at a spectacular event at the Pier Head.

All eyes will be on the River Mersey early in the morning, as Queen Anne is due to arrive at around 7am (I will sadly not be on the Pier for her arrival). The Liverpool waterfront will then be the setting for a day of unforgettable celebrations. The ceremony is due to begin at around 4pm, with the official naming by Queen Anne’s godparent, and the iconic smashing of a bottle of champagne against the ship.
Cunard are thrilled to announce that world-renowned Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli will be performing. The maestro will be joined by an impressive line-up of Liverpool’s finest talent. I am looking forward to seeing the one-of-a-kind performances from Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts, local DJ Lauren Lo Sung, and of course the official naming of the ship, with the ceremony which is being hosted by musician Matt Willis and his wife, TV presenter Emma Willis.

From around 8.30pm the evening celebrations will begin with a further performance from the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, before legendary Liverpudlian TV personality and DJ, Craig Charles joins the orchestra on stage for a unique collaboration. Craig will keep the party going until the grand finale, when Queen Anne sails away as light falls.

Left Zeebruggee while relaxing in the Spa. Speciality Dining in the steakhouse - my steak was amazing. Then went to see the show - it was out of this world. What a talented group they are. Happy that clocks are going back by an hour as early up for our long drive home. Until we return...

Delicious dinner last night in Blu. Arrived in Zeebruggee this morning - weather forecast was rain. Managed to get a walk ashore before the heavens opened! Did not head to Bruges as been so many times before. Now time for another trip to the Spa before we enjoy dinner in one of the Speciality Restaurants.

This morning we arrived in Amsterdam. Picture in thd clog was a must. As it was fine went for a walk and ended up at the flower market. Sadly rain arrived before we got back to the ship so a little wet but nice to have a wander. Now back to the beautiful Spa to relax before changing for dinner in Blu.

Delicious dinner in Blu last night - Blu is reserved for Aqua Class passengers and has a special menu (but you can have dishes off the main menu too). Then enjoyed a few drinks in the bars. This morning we woke to find the white cliffs of Dover outside. Afternoon relaxing in the Spa. Now time to change before we head to dinner.

Did Santa visit you this year? We enjoyed an overnight in Hamburg on our cruise and saw him flying over the Christmas markets! He was obviously getting ready for Christmas Eve. The German Christmas markets are the highlight of any cruise for me - sadly there are more food outlets on them but that is understandable in the current market. Still as magical as they always have been.

Arrived in Nagano and quickly changed our plans as lovely lady told us that the sightings of the snow monkies were brilliant. Left luggage at the station and straight onto the Nagano Dentetsu train which took us to to its final stop at Yudanaka Station. We arrived to rather heavy rain! Lady at the station let us borrow 2 brollies and very thankful of them. A taxi took us into the park and then we took the long walk through a very wet forest to the park. It was worth getting soaked for - what a fantastic afternoon. Sprint back to find the bus back to Nagano - we left the brollies at the shop and he kindly offered to return them to the station for us - what a great service. Don't think anything can now beat this for me - the monkies were so gorgeous.

Our first trip on the bullet train from Nagano to Tokyo - wish our trains were like this! We then took the metro to the Imperial Palace and the gardens. Sadly you cannot see the Palace and the gardens were a disgrace - there were more weeds than plants. Then had a wander around some shops and tried some Yuzu Lager which was delicious. Next stop - Celebrity Millennium...

We left Tokyo for Matsumoto. First day using our Japan Rail Pass which was quick and easy to use. Now got to grips with the Tokyo underground too. We took a tour around Matsumoto Castle which is considered to be the oldest national treasure castle in Japan. Not the easiest climb to the top of the castle but we made it. After dinner I went into the hotel's onsen (Japanese hot spring) which was so relaxing - perfect end to a long day.

Full day exploring Tokyo today. First stop the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building for great views over Tokyo. Then we headed to the Tokyo Tower and the Zojoji Temple. Lots of special ceremonies today as it was a public holiday. Then we moved onto Shibuya Crossing and ended at the Meiji Jingu Shrine. Another big adventure tomorrow...

Our mega journey to Japan has begun. Very long flights from Manchester to Hong Kong and then onto Tokyo. After over 24 hours travelling (and eating and drinking lots) we have arrived at the hotel. Dinner and now time for some sleep before we explore Tokyo tomorrow.
