Situated right in the centre of the town market square - you cant miss it and so much history to be revealed within its doors.

It's not a church.
It's not a castle.
It's not a theatre.

It's a home for 35,000 objects, some with untold stories, and some with stories to be told.

An ideal way to find out about Richmonds heritage and with fabulous views from the top of the castle - and there's no need to leave your pooch at home as its Dog Friendly too.

Did you know that the buildings at Richmond Castle span an incredible nine centuries?

Starting with the stone curtain wall, great archway in the keep and Scolland’s Hall from around the 1080’s - no other castle boasts so much surviving 11th century architecture!

The most recent buildings were constructed in the 19th century for the North York Militia. The cell block from the period still survives.

Not sure if any of our followers saw this but was a beautiful piece about the importance of the Green Howards role in the D-Day invasion. Worth a look on I-Player if you can't get to the Museum yourself.

We hope you enjoyed the Antiques Roadshow D-Day Special. It was certainly very poignant.

If you missed it, you can catch up on BBC iPlayer: https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/m001zxxh/antiques-roadshow-series-46-19-dday

Just 45 mins away and a world away in the skies - join the team at Grassholme for a magical evening, viewing the magnificent dark skies.

Situated in the middle of the Pennines, we offer a purpose-made public observatory that is easily accessible, with stunning dark skies that are frequently clear too!

Sitting on the County Durham, North Yorkshire border in beautiful Teesdale, we are within easy commute of the Lake District too.

Located near the A1 and the A66 we are quickly reached from North, South, East, or West.

And with many stunning villages and towns nearby there are plenty of places to stay if you want to make the most of a long night stargazing.
