We often get asked where to eat when staying with us. When you book with us we’ll send you an info pack with lots of recommendations but we also love sharing them here too 🥰

We’re lucky that we have lots of wonderful places to visit in the New Forest but if you fancy dining in or taking a picnic with you, local business is well worth a look.

They can provide Picnic Hampers & Seafood Platters - packed with locally sourced, fresh produce, perfect for a special day out by the sea or in the forest.

If you’re looking to dine in at the cottage they’ll bring the dinner party to you! All the prep is done, and their menus are packed with local ingredients.

Places we love…

Alum Chine Beach (and our beach hut) is located just over a mile west of Bournemouth Pier and under 30 minutes from the cottage.

Alum Chine beach has plenty to do for the day with a wide, sandy beach and shallow waters you’ll have a wonderful day on the beach. Next to the car park and near to our beach hut is a pirate-themed adventure playground which makes Alum Chine beach really popular for families with young children.

You’ll also find toilets and various cafes nearby.

If you want to visit Bournemouth pier it’s a 20 minute walk along seafront promenade and there you’ll find lots of attractions.

If you’re interested in using our beach hut during your stay please DM us ahead of your stay to organise.

We’re really proud to have been voted in the top 10 best rated by customers of in 2022.

Dairy Cottage is a 2 bed, 2 bath property in the beautiful New Forest. It has its own private, large garden and spectacular views from its master bedroom over the nature reserve behind.

The windows, along with the vaulted ceilings, exposed oak beams and interior flooded with light, are a major part of the stunning architectural design of that earned this pretty cottage a slot on Channel 4s 'Grand Channel 4's Grand Designs.

Parents will appreciate the comprehensive list of baby and toddler gear, along with high quality fixtures and fittings. The review tell us that little ones love all the toys, books and the safely enclosed garden complete with sand pit, pirate ship and other toys.

3 of our favourite pubs…

Our guests always ask us where should we eat and we are very lucky to have some wonderful pubs and restaurants nearby… In no particular order here are 3 we love:

1) our nearest pub with gorgeous areas to sit and eat and a children’s playground
2) .and.groom.woodgreen has great food we would really recommend 👍🏻
3) rated one of the best pubs, family run and good food

Our favourite places 🌳

We love (and lots of our guests do too) a trip to Moors Valley Country Park.

Moors Valley is a Country Park with Play Trail, narrowgauge steam railway, Go Ape tree top adventure, golf course, country shop, restaurant and more.

Dogs are welcome (on leads) and although activities like GoApe needs to be booked in advance, cycle hire or parking is a first come first served so arrive either before 10am or after 2pm where possible as it is normally less busy.

Places to visit 🌳👍🏻📸

The New Forest Wildlife Park is located on the edge of The New Forest and is a lovely place to visit with children.

This attraction is home to over 260 animals representing 40 species both native and from other parts of the world, so there is lots to see on the route around the park.
Conservation and educational programmes are at the heart of the wildlife park and the friendly keepers are happy to share their knowledge about the animals in their care. Keep an eye on their social media pages for special talks they often have ☑️🌳
 
You’ll also find playgrounds suitable for all ages and abilities and a cafe - lots of people also take a picnic, there are places to sit near the park.
