We took a couple of hours out this morning to do a circular walk through Pendarves Woods near Camborne. Never been there before and it was so lovely; the pathways were lined with bluebells. The walk started at Treslothan where there’s a church and war memorial and the route followed woodland paths and quiet lanes taking in a stream, a lake and the Giant’s Quoit. The quoit is a Neolithic burial chamber which was re-erected in 2014. That’s another little corner of Cornwall explored!

The walk (4.4 miles) can be found on the iWalk app.

Up on Penwith Moor today; a walk that took in Chun Quoit, the remains of an Iron Age fort, Carn Kenidjack and a stone circle. The land is littered with history, you can see it all around…and the views went on for miles and miles. We had the soundtrack of skylarks together with the calls of cuckoos (the first I’ve heard this year) and there were a number of buzzards soaring overhead. An easy walk, and hardly saw a soul…nice way to spend our Bank Holiday Monday!

We still have some availability in May for short breaks - visit our website for full details www.trevethoe.co.uk

It feels like we’ve turned a bit of a corner with the weather at last! Cattle are back out in the fields and nosing over the cottage wall this morning, and we’ve been busy in our garden and allotment.

Did you know that Lelant has its own beach? Porthkidney is accessed via the South West Coastpath from St Uny Church and whilst there are no public facilities there, it’s a fantastic beach for a stroll and if you like walking can be reached by foot from our farm.

There are views across the bay to Godrevy Lighthouse and Hayle’s 3 miles of golden sands. When the tide is out, Porthkidney is vast and you’d have no problem finding a spot to sit and quietly enjoy the view.

Spring is definitely in the air…maybe time to consider a spring break to Cornwall?

We have flexible short breaks available in April and May (minimum 3 night stay). A stay at Trevethoe means a rural setting and yet we’re only a few minutes from the A30, so perfectly located to explore all that West Cornwall has to offer, as well as being within easy reach of public transport links. Our farm lies between St Ives and Hayle, so all the beautiful local beaches are close by.

Visit our website for full details of our cottages, rates, availability and online booking or get in touch for more information.

Our Christmas Day walk took us up to Carn Brea, and despite the drizzly weather we completed a 6 mile circular walk through mud, mist and wet!

We enjoyed a hunk of Christmas cake on top of the hill beneath the castle to see us through and I managed to find an extra deep section of mud on the path (you can always rely on me to make the wrong decision on negotiating swampy sections!!) The winter colours of the landscape were fabulous, even on a grey day.

We returned home damp but with colour in our cheeks and an appetite for our Christmas dinner! Did you manage to get out for any Christmas walks?

The walk we followed was from iWalk Cornwall and as always kept us on route!

Hello 2024! We hope you’ve had a wonderful time over the festive period…and now it’s time to look forward to a whole new year ahead!

We’re busy sprucing up the cottages in time for when we reopen in April which I’m sure will arrive before we know it!

The summer weeks are booking up fast, so do be quick if you’re thinking of staying with us in July/August as availability is limited.

We have plenty of available dates in April and May and we can offer short breaks in the spring so do get in touch to find out more. Whilst the cottages sleep up to 4 people they are also popular with couples so if you fancy a getaway for a few days (3 night minimum) drop me a message or email me on [email protected] and I’d be happy to help.

Wishing you all a happy and healthy New Year 🎉

We welcomed in December with a walk up on the moors…it was a beautifully crisp morning with a light frosting on the hedgerows, frozen puddles, clear skies and amazing views 💕

We are busy behind the scenes giving the cottages a freshen up before we reopen in April, but bookings have still been steadily coming in for next year which is brilliant. If you’re thinking of staying with us do check out our website and online calendar. Happy to take short breaks during April and May so get in touch with me directly if you’d like to find out more!

Hello October…you’ve crept up on us a bit haven’t you?! There’s a definite change in the air as Autumn settles in. The colours of the landscape are also changing…I love this time of year 🍂.

We’ve just enjoyed a very hot couple of days away, but on the way back home we stopped off at Rough Tor, Bodmin Moor for a stomp. It was thankfully cooler, and it was a fab moorland walk which took us to the top of Brown W***y, the highest point in Cornwall; we were lucky that the low cloud lifted for the views. It’s on the iWalk Cornwall app, which we’ve found really good and helpful every time we’ve used it 👍🏻

We still have availability from this Friday 15th September in Grooms Cottage if you’re thinking of a last minute getaway. Full details on our website www.trevethoe.co.uk.
