EV Charging now available at Valley Farm

The environment’s really important to us here at Valley Farm and we’re always trying to reduce our impact. This week has seen the installation of solar panels and this smart 7.2kw type 2 charger, perfect for our guests to charge overnight ahead of their day’s exploring everything the Suffolk Coast has to offer!

We can’t wait for the first charge!!

Stables
I’ve been trying to capture the joy of the flowers outside Stables today. I hope this conveys it!

Stables is a 1 bed single storey holiday cottage attached to our thatched barn. You guessed it, it used to be the stables when Valley Farm was a working farm and home to more animals than people!

These flowers make me smile every day 🌸

Sunny spots for relaxing

It’s been like summer at Valley Farm this week and our guests have made the most of the weather enjoying our lovely gardens.

Each of our cottages has its own patio area and open access to the 2 acres of garden, home to lots of wildlife. Loads for guests and their dogs to explore

Stables
I thought I’d share a couple of photos of our single storey 1 bedroom cottage, Stables today, as I was getting it ready for guests today.

Stables has a fab view onto the shared garden, with big patio doors letting in lots of light. The perfect spot.

With a super king bedroom and a new bathroom, it’s a warm and cosy spot to spend a few days.

Just a few minutes from and , come and stay with us and explore the East Suffolk coast!

COWS … I do love having the cows as neighbours. I find them enjoyable to watch and their sedate pace relaxing!
We very often have cows in the neighbouring fields as they move between their pastures 🐄.

🚶‍♀️🚶

We love this view of the Tide Mill at Woodbridge, which is taken from our walking route at Ferry Cliff.

It's one of several walking trails we have at Sutton Hoo and is around three miles long. It links the visitor centre with the river, takes you out over both public footpaths and through woodland, past the Gar Seat and then back to Tranmer House - and on a bright day, it offers some truly lovely views!

Moot Hall in Aldeburgh, Suffolk, is one of the best-preserved Tudor public buildings in England.

The Burgess of Aldeburgh built the Hall in the early 16th century at a time when the town was enjoying a notable period of prosperity that lasted around 150 years.

Previously known as the Town Hall, it once housed several merchant shops.

The timber-framed building was rebuilt in the mid-19th century when it became known as the Moot Hall.

2023 has been our first full year at Valley Farm, and it’s been great!
Our highlights include so much positive feedback, meeting our happy guests and making positive changes to our 3 x 1 bed and 1 x 2 bed holiday homes!
Hats off to our very own Handy Andy who has changed two bathrooms, a kitchen and completed countless other jobs!
This is the last photo you’ll see of our barn with a sheeted thatch. This thatch has lasted since 1955, but will be replaced over the next 2 months, we hope you’ll come and stay later in the year to admire it’s new hat!

Getting ready for ! ….
Granary is our two bedroom barn cottage, with a spectacular double height living space showing the old timbers at their best ….
Guests often comment on the spacious living area, featuring a table for 6+, two sofas and a smart tv. Lots of radiators mean it’s also warm and cosy too! …
Limited December availability before we close Granary for a new thatch, reopening in late Spring! ….

It’s my birthday today!

And the first as a resident of Suffolk! This time last year we were navigating a complicated sale and crossing our fingers and toes that our purchase of Valley Farm wouldn’t fall through.

So in celebration, I thought I’d tell you a few things about Suffolk life that make me smile

1. Onions on the road. During harvest time it’s very common to see onions, potatoes etc on the road, that have fallen from tractor and trailer. It makes me smile and gives me a great sense of connection to the food we eat! 🧅🥔
2. Green fields and ancient oaks. The rolling landscape and tree lines give a sense of space, freedom and contrast to London! 🌳 lots of space for the 🏃‍♀️🏃& 🦆🦊🐇
3. The seaside. Having grown up on the coast I always wanted to live close by again and I’m so happy the beach is only 10 mins away. 🌊
4. The food. The best fish and chips on the beach. Cheese, asparagus, Pump Street chocolate. Harris & James ice cream! 🍫🍪🍩🍦

Hayloft Bedroom Reveal

To complete our refresh of Hayloft, we have
- upgraded the bed to a king size
- It’s a eco friendly mattress with British wool
- Upcycled the bed base and added a new oak headboard
- Added a bedroom sofa
- Installed new ceiling and bedside lamps & a new mirror
- Painted throughout including this gorgeous ochre colour (Yarn by in their crafted range)

The changes have brought a real warmth to this space 😍

What hasn’t changed?!
* new walls and oblong white tiles
* new bath, sink, vanity, toilet and taps
* new power shower
* new electric energy efficient towel rail
* new demister illuminated mirror with integrated shaver socket
* new panelling, floor tiles and insulation under the new floor boards

We wanted a classy and comfortable bathroom to replace the dated champagne suite and mismatched taps, and I couldn’t be happier!

2 acres

We’ve welcomed several families with children this Easter. The garden has been alive with the sounds of Easter egg hunts, cartwheels and football!

The grassy area in front of the cottages is a real sun trap and everyone has their own door and patio onto this area.

It’s another sunny and warm day so whilst all our guests are out enjoying themselves we’ve had a picnic lunch (& done some door maintenance too 😂)

Popular with 🐕 and 🧒👧 alike, you can explore our 2 acres, visit the pond, make a daisy chain or watch the 🐄🐄!

Hello! I’m Sophie

I’d like to introduce myself - I’m Sophie, and together with my husband and 👧👦 we moved to Valley Farm in September last year.

We always hoped to move to the countryside while our children were little, in search of big gardens, wildlife, cleaner air, dark skies and proximity to the coast and we feel like we hit the 🎰 finding Valley Farm.

Just over 2 hours from London (by 🚘 or 🚆) and 10 minutes from the 🌊 at and 2 minutes from we’ve found a perfect spot.

We have a huge list of things we’d like to do - from the major to the minor, follow along as we thatch our barn, renovate our holiday cottages, explore the local area and enjoy every moment of our
