Scam warning!!!
Please whoever you decide to book your caravan holiday with do not book via this website.
It is a scam 🤬they are pretending to have a lodge with a hot tub on Primrose valley as well as properties on other holiday parks. As those who know primrose valley there are no hot tubs allowed but some poor families will fall for this scam.
Always do your checks to ensure the owner is genuine.

SCAM ADVICE

⚠️ DO NOT HAND OVER ANY MONEY UNTILL YOU HAVE DONE YOUR CHECKS. First and most obvious one but it's crazy the amount of people that pay and check after.

⚠️ LOOK FOR THEIR FACEBOOK/WEBSITE/ADVERT.

is it a new profile? Do they have any post history? Look at their page.. is there any reviews. Look at comments. Is there any previous guests. Is the owner helpful. Replying on the posts. Check the website. Does it match the Facebook advert? Scammers often make new profiles or have pages with no reviews or post history. Sometimes they get a fake account to post 1 review. Look for an owners that has history. Lots of posts. Lots of interaction with previous guests.

⚠️ ASK QUESTIONS. An owner will love to talk about their caravan and park. They know everything and lots about the local area. Is the owner knowledgeable. Are they giving you info or just telling you to Google. Scammers often give short answers because they don't know details. They can only say what they find on the Internet.

⚠️ DONT BELIEVE A VERIFIED BADGE PICTURE OR A I AM VERIFIED STATEMENT. Anyone can google these pics and take them or say I am verified. Doesn't mean they are!! Do your own checks.

⚠️ If you ask for a date and you get 5 owners quote you £800 and one person quote you £300. ASK YOURSELF WHY! RED FLAG!! Why is that van so cheap. Why are they not the same as the other 5 owners on that park. How can they offer a van of a similar grade so much cheaper. Owners rent to cover bills... so there is no way they will be this much cheaper. IF IT LOOKS TO GOOD TO BE TRUE. - IT PROBABLY IS

⚠️ BANK DETAILS. Does the account name match the owner name. If not - why not. If someone is renting for their gran/auntie/mum/dad whatever - why are you not paying into their account. Scammers often steal an owners name and pitch number. Then the bank will be in the scammer name and not the owner name and so they say the can is a relative. Do your checks on this before you send the money!

‼️Call the phone number on the picture. Check the website and email that website. Say to them.. I've just messaged you on Facebook please confirm its you. Its not 100% but scammers are unlikely to set up a whole website or have the same mobile number.

⚠️ ASK OTHER PEOPLE - make a post in a caravan group.. please can someone confirm if ###x is an owner on ###x. Or... I'm looking to book with ###x has anyone stayed recently and can give me a review and confirm they are genuine. Then check your replies. What are people saying. Have many other owners replied. Have any previous guests replied. When you are looking at the replies.. click the person's picture and it will show you all there other posts in the group.. so you can see if they are an owner posting their own van or a guest.

⚠️ INBOXES - if someone inboxes you... go and check they commented on your wanted post. Scammers often message without commenting as they want to stay hidden. Or they might just post... inboxed you... then no link to their page. So make sure everyone in your inbox has commented on your wanted post and posted a link with their comment to their page/paid advert usually on ukcaravan/directholidays/static etc.

⚠️ PRIVATE GROUPS - the caravan group you are in... look at the top under the name. Is it a public or private group. Private groups are usually safer. Only people in the group can see or comment on your posts. Whereas a public group... anyone can comment or see your post and inbox you!! Meaning the scammer doesn't even have to be a member of the group and can hide from admin. Public groups are bad news and should be avoided.

⚠️ Join the FB holiday scams group.(link below) these are a group of owners for over 10 years that have successfully got scammers caught and convicted. These owners are admins in many of the big well run caravan rental groups and work in the background to report scammers and fakes. The advice on the page is brilliant.

A few other points to be aware of

⛔️ Due to GDPR and data protection alot of parks stopped confirming owners over the telephone. Even with the owners permission. So although this is a fab way to check.. and great for those parks that still do it.... there are many parks that don't and it doesn't mean your owner is not genuine.. you just need to find another way.

⛔️ If you ask an owner for proof of ownership - remember sometimes this is difficult. An owner needs to protect themselves. Lots of scammers have stolen these pictures from owners and now using them as there own. Same with pitch numbers. Some owners have had these stolen so don't give them out till payment is made. So be very cautious but don't panic if an Owner is holding back personal and sensitive information.

I’ve become aware over the last few weeks that a lot of people are being approached on Facebook by scammers who direct message potential guests offering vans that they don’t have. Unfortunately the list of known scammers grows day by day, many of them use aliases/new accounts when they are caught out.

Today a family turned up on Primrose Valley holiday park having paid for a van that didn’t exist. They are obviously very upset after a long journey and paying out money for a holiday they won’t get. I’m hoping Haven will assist this family and give them a caravan to stay in.

Please be careful when booking a caravan. Only consider those who post openly and with a link to their page or website. Any concerns ask in Facebook groups where genuine owners will gladly help you and if the person is genuine they won’t mind you checking them out.

Please be careful, ask lots of questions and if alarm bells ring……walk away x everyone is struggling financially and these scammers are happy taking as much money as they can from honest people. I don’t know how they sleep at night 🤬

If after reading this you’re wondering about me and my caravan. I advertise on ukcaravans4hire.co.uk who verify all advertisers. A lot of owners on the website, including me, offer the option of booking online which gives you buyer protection and allows you to pay by card. When you pay online ukcaravans4hire don’t actually release the payment to the owner until after the start of your holiday so your money is safe.
