We love exploring, its one of the reason we moved up to this beautiful part of the world. On Friday we went on a five mile circular walk, starting in Hutton-le-Hole to one of our favourite pubs the Blacksmith's Arms in the village of Lastingham for lunch. North Yorkshire isn't just about big moorlands, this walk takes you through rolling farmland and two very picturesque villages. . Make sure have a look around the historic church of St Mary's (do buy their jam!).

Great night out at the Scarborough Open Air Theatre to watch Simple Minds supported by Del Amitri. Such a great venue, with super friendly staff, that attracts many great acts throughout the summer season and its just 20 minutes from our cottages!

Lots of our guests take a trip on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway . A fantastic volunteer led railway that winds through the heart of the picturesque North York Moors National Park . Depending on what service you take, you can go all the way from Pickering, just 15 minutes from our cottages, to Whitby on the Yorkshire Coast. No visit to Whitby would be complete without a visit to the Abbey, inspiration for Bram Stoker’s “Dracula”. Whilst you are up there, having climbed the 199 steps to get there, why not visit the Whitby Brewery which has great views of the Abbey (and it also does good beer and freshly baked pizzas!).

Join us on a long walk to our village pub, The Grapes Whilst it's only three minutes walk from our cottages, you can go on a longer walk up through our local woods, Chafer Wood, and then in to open farm land, before coming back down Kirkdale before arriving at the Grapes for a well earned pint (and maybe some chips)

A walk looking for daffodils
Last week we got out to explore the fantastic North York Moors National Park in search of daffodils. There are plenty of honey pots, but even on a Saturday you can still find some quieter places with fantastic shows of this classic flower in its natural environment.

Today we took delivery of some fish for our pond. Some fantastic brown trout. Purely there to be looked at and enjoyed, definitely not for the plate!

Gutted for organisers, with the weather the turn out was low, but it did feel that we almost had the band to ourselves.
