The flower baskets at Woodpeckers Cottage have been inspired by the natural colours of their surroundings this year, just waiting for the blue salvias to bust into colour to give a hint of the colour of the sea!

Our fabulous fencers have created a new meadow grass field for our lovely guests and their four legged friends! The wild grasses and flowers grow long in the summer and so we mow paths in and around the field. This encourages wildlife whilst letting you and your dog enjoy the freedom of this 1.5 acre field during your stay. In early morning, deer can often be seen grazing in the fields opposite. Yesterday we took the short drive to Boggle Hole and enjoyed a breezy walk on the beach. Then we went to the dog friendly cafe at the YHA for coffee and a bowl of chopped up sausage whilst we sat in front of the log burner with our little motley crew.

A warm artisan loaf awaits our next guests! The ‘poolish’ starter matures overnight before the final dough is mixed at 7am. This gives the final bake a good crust with a light chewy texture that makes amazing toast!
