Fringed by warm golden sands and enveloped by coconut groves, The Sands Khao Lak is a welcoming and spacious beach resort with a warm, friendly atmosphere. With the shops of Khao Lak right on its doorstep, this is the ideal location for couples and families to enjoy beach life and be immersed in local culture. For a change from the golden sands of Nang Thong Beach, take a dip in one of the nine pools or relax in the whirlpool bath. There are plenty of leisure activities, with a tennis court on-site, as well as a health walk programme and classes including Thai boxing.
This is a great choice if you want a mix of laxing on the beach or by the pools and shopping for sarongs and street food in Khao Lak.

Combine a short stay in the captivating city of Dubrovnik with a small-ship cruise along the idyllic coast of southern Dalmatia on board MS Splendid and visit picturesque islands, quaint villages and ancient cities.
Begin with a 3 night stay at Sun Gardens Dubrovnik. This 5* resort has a quiet waterfront location to the north of the city with panoramic views of the Elaphati Islands. There are three pools and a spa for relaxing days, or a 20-minute drive sees you in heart of Dubrovnik's old town, perfect for exploration.
Board the MS Splendid for your 7 night cruise. This 126-foot-long vessel has just 18 cabins and a maximum capacity of just 40 guests, a perfect way to explore this stunning region.
Day 1 - Dubrovnik - Board the MS Splendid in Dubrovnik, meet the crew and fellow travellers before enjoying a welcome dinner whilst docked.
Day 2 - Dubrovnik - Enjoy an exploration of Dubrovnik, heading into the rugged hills above the city before a guided walking tour of the historic centre. Lunch is served as you sail towards your next port, Slano, with a swim stop along the way too.
Day 3 - Mljet National Park - There is time to explore the national parks and maybe even go for a swim in one of the lakes. Later, sail onto Korฤula, the birthplace of Marco Polo. Here you will have a guided tour offering an insight into the history of this remarkable town before having the evening free to wander and find a perfect spot for dinner.
Day 4 - Vis - The morning is spent sailing along the pretty coast (with another swim stop, of course) with eth afternoon free to explore the lesser-known destination, or maybe find a pretty beach to relax before finding a local restaurant for dinner.
Day 5 - Hvar - Before arriving in Hvar, you will make a brief stop at Biลกevoโ€™s Blue Cave (dependent on tides). Hvar is considered to be Croatia's Monte Carlo with exclusive clubs and fantastic restaurants. Enjoy a tour of the city before having free time to explore further.
Day 6 - BracฬŒ Island - Start your day with some time at one of the best swimming beaches in Croatia before arriving in Bol, where you will find narrow streets lined by small stone houses. After lunch, arrive in Puฤiลกฤ‡a with plenty of time to explore.
Day 7 - Omiลก & Split - Sail early morning to Omiลก, a former pirate stronghold, before heading across to your final port, Split. Enjoy a guided walking tour of the city before having the evening at leisure to dine at a local restaurant.
Day 8 - Split - Enjoy breakfast onboard before your transfer to the airport or enjoy an optional post-cruise stay in Split.
Cruise includes daily breakfast and lunch, except for day 1 when only dinner is served and day 8 when just breakfast is served, before you disembark.

Had an interesting and informative session from Gambia Tourist Board yesterday reminding us of the reasons why The Gambia is a great winter destination for us โ˜€๏ธ Best time to visit is between October and April making it perfect for some winter sunshine with a direct 6 hr flight from London Gatwick (and making a change from the usual Canaries or Cape Verde short haul options). Gambia is a very affordable destination with a range of hotels available including 5*, great for beaches, wildlife and bird watching, fishing and nature reserves. The food is excellent, bed and breakfast is recommended so you can sample the local restaurants but there are a few All Inclusive hotels if that is preferable. It is a safe destination and families are welcome, there are also opportunities for your children to visit a local school and learn about other cultures during your holiday. Snorkeling this morning, incredible! We opted for a 2 hour private trip on a glass bottom boat with three snorkeling stops which wasn't much more than the public boat with lots of people and was well worth the extra. Our own guide to spot turtles for us and find the best places with less people. We saw four turtles and loads of fish! ๐Ÿ  I would definitely recommend getting up early and opting for the 8am private trip when it's cooler.
