Bracing skies and choppy seas at Holme-next-the-Sea beach. Good for clearing the pre-Christmas mind!
Holme is a 20 minute drive from Fen Cottage and one of our favourite places to walk. It backs onto the Norfolk Wildlife Trust Dunes Nature Reserve and you can refuel at the Dunes Cafe in the Visitor Centre.

Exciting news! We now have a brand new shed in the garden at the cottage and it's big enough to store bikes securely when you visit us. So if you fancy enjoying some beautiful cycle rides along west and north Norfolk's quiet country lanes and coastal paths, why not sling your bikes in the car. It's a great way to explore the area, with the countryside and woodland routes offering stunning landscapes as you pedal your way around.
We've had some great weather recently too and the garden is looking very pretty in the sunshine.

One of my absolute favourite photos sent to me by guests. I don't think there can be a better way of saying how much they enjoyed their stay than this, taken after an amazing dinner at the award-winning Rose & Crown Inn, Snettisham.

We’re off on our adventures again today. Sadly it’s the second flat tyre incident in a week 🚴 but luckily I’m stranded at Bircham Windmill and the sun is shining while I await my rescue. The aroma from the bread making sessions run by the mill is keeping me going 🍞...

A warm and woolly welcome to Bircham Windmill.

10 mins drive through Norfolk countryside from Fen Cottage, the mill is the only one in working order open to the public in this area. Visitors can climb 5 floors to the fan stage and, when possible on windy days can also see the sails and milling machinery turning.

Open daily from 10am-4pm until end of September, also offering a Bakery (with bread making lessons), Tea Room and Gallery, Gift Shop, gardens and animals. Dog’s welcome on leads ...
