The fellowship is one of the Rotary International’s highest distinctions and fellows include US President Jimmy Carter, Russian President Boris Yeltsin and astronaut James Lovell.

Jerry joins the group of twelve existing Paul Harris Fellows within the club. He has been involved in many projects benefiting the community including the St Andrews Beach Wheelchairs project whereby people with accessible requirements can access the beach - many for the first time!

We’re delighted to announce that two of our committee members have been shortlisted as regional finalists (Central, Fife and Tayside) for the prestigious Scottish Thistle Awards organised annually by national tourism body VisitScotland. The awards are recognised as Scotland’s top awards for the tourism industry and offer the opportunity to recognise those individuals, organisations and businesses that have made valuable contributions to the tourism industry sector across the country.

Debbie MacCallum (Chair of Tourism St Andrews and Stay St Andrews business owner) has been shortlisted for the Regional Ambassador Award. This category recognises those who have a responsibility in shaping the future of our tourism industry and the award category recognises the individual’s commitment and passion for the industry sector and who has dedicated time and energy to making a difference to tourism in their local area. The award recognises tourism representatives who ‘go above and beyond’ to contribute to the development of tourism in their area.

Jerry Beaulier (Tourism St Andrews committee member and owner of Castlemount Bed and Breakfast) has been shortlisted for the Tourism and Hospitality Hero award for his dedicated volunteer work with the St Andrews Beach Wheelchairs. This category celebrates an individual on the front line of the customer service experience. Across Scotland, there are a huge number of people who unlock something special for every visitor - from tour guides to front of house staff – and this category recognises those who deliver exceptional service and a memorable and personal touch.

Our volunteers have had a busy season welcoming coach tour visitors to St Andrews. We'd very much like additional volunteers to help to the end of this season and for next year!

Do you have some time to spare to meet and greet tourists when they arrive in our beautiful Royal Burgh? Or perhaps you know someone that you could mention this role to?

Only the other day our team welcomed visitors from Australia, USA and Asia!

Please message the page if you'd like to find out more - with thanks!
