North Wall - Motorbike Tours Guided tours and advanced rider training

I ride not to go anywhere, but to ride. I ride for riding’s sake. The great adventure is to ride!*

A rider who likes to ride! Touring, seeing new places and experiencing food, culture and all the while, finding great roads to do it on! You will find this out sooner or later, so here goes, I am an Advanced Rider, Diploma holder and Senior Tutor with Wiltshire RoADAR, I’m middle aged and I ride a 1200 GSA. But please, don’t let that put you off! I have toured many many times both in the UK and ab

road. Often in our van too – all the way around Greece was one such epic trip. All my trips have start and end points planned with ideas of good roads to take. Plans may change due to whatever reason, but, that’s often where the thrill comes in.

Afternoon to myself so popped out for a three hours or so, bimbling around north WIltshire-ish. Cricklade, Malmesbury, Tetbury, Westonbirt, Sherston, Nettelton, Castle Combe, Chippenham, Lacock, Sandy Lane, Calne, Marlborough, Aldebourne and home! Brilliant weather, apart from a little drizzle on the A4.
The roads were fun, some challenging single track roads with a few tight bends; roadsides were sown with blues, reds and violet wild flowers such as poppies, sky was filled with fluffy white clouds and a pleasant 18degC or so! Happy days!

Cumbria road trip

Just back from and exhilarating seven days riding last week up in Cumbria with friends. Our main highlights were the passes including Wrynose, Hardknott, Kirsktone, Tan Hill pub (I know it’s not Cumbria and was featured in the American Werewolf in London film), Kirkby Lonsdale, Settle and Skipton.

A long way to go for us, but the views over the lush green valleys and variety of roads more than made up for it. Not fast riding for the most part as we stuck to small roads, often not getting past third-gear!

We even had chance to visit a Bobbin Museum – not as dull as it may sound if you’re interested in seeing old machinery in action.
The weather was, well, it’s May and it was great to start, but then got wetter as the week went on. However, we did the Lower Lake passes on the Monday where the weather was superb.

The Hardknott pass was great and not as scary as some make it out to be, steep in places and yes, challenging, but give it a go even with two up!
