We have sailed 650km along the Danube river this week through Hungary, Slovakia, Austria, along the Czech border and into Germany! River cruising is such an immersive, relaxing, stylish way to see so much in a short amount of time.
AMA waterways (who I sailed with) offer sailings all over Europe including Christmas markets! 🎅
But they also sail the Nile, the Mekong through Vietnam and Cambodia, the Magdalena river in Colombia to name just a few!
Almost Everything is included, even your choice of excursions each day which they carefully select to make the most out of your holiday.

Our last day with spent in Passau and Vilshofen, both beautiful historic towns in Bavaria, Germany.
We even had an Oktoberfest celebration to round off an incredible week.
I’ve visited a lot of places this week which I never normally think to try.. but that’s the beauty of cruising.. especially river cruising.
You feel no movement and ,unlike sea days on an ocean cruise, the scenery is always there even when on the move.

Grein, Austria. Another benefit to river cruising is multiple ports in the same day. Some guests get off at the first and use the ships bikes to meet us at the next! This being our second port of the day allowed an evening at a local festival in the town as we didn’t depart until 11pm .. this morning we have awoken in Linz.. have you ever seen the sound of music?! 🏔️ 🎵 🐐

This morning we have woken up in Durnstein, an ancient town in the Wachau Valley in Lower Austria.
Wine production is the order of the day here ( so I am happy!) The town is surrounded by vineyards primarily producing white wine in particular Gruner Veltliner ( which is stocked in the UK Morrisons and Waitrose!)
We spent this morning exploring the town before attending a wine tasting in the ancient monestary followed by local
Apricot liquors 🥴… afternoon nap may be required 🍷 😝

Vienna by day and night… what a city! Only 40 minutes by car (or ferry!) from Bratislava if you wanted to combine. Vienna would require more than a day as there is so much to explore and the chance to visit the opera in the evening, see the Lipizzaner horses in action or (like us) enjoy the sights from a rooftop bar!

The wonderful thing about Cruising to multiple destinations is that it’s the taster to return. Bratislava, Slovakia is one of those cities that I now would like to come back to for the weekend with my hubby.. along with the very good beer prices for him 😝it’s a beautiful, laid back city with interesting stories and lovely people ☀️

Sunday Morning River Cruising in Budapest ⭐️

iFly by Ripcord is a skydiving simulator. This was on Odyssey of the seas but it can be found on multiple Royal Caribbean ships. The fans push the air at roughly 160km per hour and experienced skydivers use these simulators to practice! There was 30 minutes of training beforehand and you only have 60 seconds in the tube but this was the best part of my cruise and my adrenaline was running for hours afterwards!
