Our two U14 sides went head to head yesterday and served up a cracking game.

The game got off to a powerful start with both teams battling it out. The edge went to Ellie May as she scored in the 21st minute making it 1-0. The U14s regrouped and drew level when Alex Pettigrew cleverly dispossessed her opponent, drove into the box and placed the ball in the bottom corner. A powerful strike from Ellie May took a deflection into the goal making it 2-1. After the break both teams came out fired up and ready and battled it out hard.

Those seeking respite from the action ought to have left at half time as, after the interval, both sides picked up where they left off, with attacking intent on display from both sides. The tie was squared when Grace Campbell cleverly sidestepped her opponent and drilled a fierce shot into the net.

Neither side looked like settling for a share of the spoils with both defences and goalkeepers repelling wave after wave of opposition attack. In injury time, the Colts conceded two successive corners, the latter created a goalmouth scramble, during which Kara Mackay was able to bundle the ball over the line and secure a 3-2 win for the 14s.

Both sets of girls should be proud of their attitude after the match as each showed grace and kindness toward each other.
