Beautiful view from Maidencombe early this morning.

Beautiful Harvest Moon over Devon Palms tonight. End of a lovely day. At this solemn time I found this and thought it fought the mood.

Be Still

A nation mourns where peace awakes,
Be still the trees, the skies, the lakes,
For such a grief we’ve never seen,
As God reclaims our gracious Queen.

You served with grace throughout your reign,
And in our hearts you will remain,
That regal soul who leads us through,
The darkest black - the brightest blue.

The fire roars but loses light,
As silence fills the empty night,
To speak of nothing but your name,
Where decades fill the picture frame.

Where tears touched the open scars,
That now become the silver stars
To shimmer in the evening sky
Where you shall live but never die.

With such a beating regal heart,
You never let the love depart,
So now with strength and soft salute,
We fix the dress and press the suit.

As time will mend the broken quill,
That wrote your name and writes it still,
So when the morning gently breaks,
Be still the trees, the skies, the lakes.
