The Italian Gardens, Abbey Park, December 2023. It's a stark scene, one that has provoked a massive public outcry. Dozens of Torbay Palms, symbolic of the English Riviera, have been felled here in recent days. There is some signage up in the gardens indicating that all this is part of works to remodel them ahead of their centenary next year. A mockup of the proposed 'new look' along with the 'old look' can be found in the comments section.

The long and round lights are dots and dashes of Morse code which spell out two words which hold relevance to the site. It spells out 'Vanishing Point'.

Belgrave Road, 1910s. Modelled on London's Belgravia district, this area of Torquay was full of elegant terraced houses along tree-lined roads. Belgrave Road at the heart of the area was built over the ancient Sand Lane that connected Torre with the seafront. In the early 20th century, the houses began to become small hotels. 110 years after this was taken, most of the terrace pictured here is occupied by the Derwent Hotel, part of TLH. It has been considerably altered, along with much of Belgravia, but the area retains enough original buildings to have achieved Conservation Area status.
