A vineyard tour and tasting at the award winning Sandridge Barton vineyard on the banks of the River Dart is a must during any stay in Totnes. The Vineyard Safari, offers a full insight into the winemaking processes, from vine to wine. Over two hours, you'll be transported to the beautiful vineyards before walking through the vines, then return to the winery to see the winemaking journey from grape to glass! You’ll try four wines en route, and finish the experience with some local cheese and charcuterie back at the tasting room.

You can do this beautiful walk straight from The Cabin Totnes

Take a stroll alongside the river from Totnes to Sharpham and Ashprington. This 10km circular walk starts and ends in Totnes. It takes roughly 3 hours and will take you through woodland, reed beds and land currently being re-wilded by Sharpham Trust.

Sometimes Olive likes to sunbathe in the guests chairs. Silly not to really when it’s such a lovely place to be.
And talking of bees I love that mason bees and leaf cutters have both made some use of the solitary bee habitat this year.

Due to a late cancellation The Cabin has availability from Monday 22nd August through the weekend up to Thursday 1st September - get in touch if you're looking for a Devon get away break. Close to the River Dart for fresh water swimming and close to the coast for sea swimming. If that's not your thing then Dartmoor calls. The town of Totnes is a very short walk and bustling with shops, great food/drink places and a lovely market.

I’ve never bothered to plant gladioli before but so glad I have, these are flowing in the front garden this year and velvet beauties they are, paired with crocosmia for some eye popping colour in the house.

Sun rising on the green roof early this morning. The birds love to pick around up there looking for invertebrates. There is Delosperma aberdeenense 'Hot Pink (had to Google it!) spreading well on the roof and the colour is just eye popping in the sunshine.
