Not many Holiday cottage owners are aware but On 1st October 2023, the government will be issuing new laws for fire safety in holiday homes in England. The purpose of these changes are to ensure that all holiday lets are acting safely and making provision for fire safety, making it as safe as possible for guests during their stay.

The forecast is looking wonderful for the next few days and many of you may be heading to the beach, so here are the tide times for Wells beach.
If walking out along the shoreline, make sure you are back along the pine woods 4 hours before high tide to prevent being cut off.

With half term upon us and many visitors coming to Wells, we want to raise awareness of the dangers of walking out to the sea at low tide. A new sandbar has developed over the last year, and if walkers are not back on the main beach, close to the pine woods at least 4 hours before high tide, they are in danger of being cut off.

High tide is in the late afternoon and evenings from this weekend, which means there is an even greater danger of walkers being caught out by not realising the danger as the tide turns.

If you do find yourself caught out by the tide, or see someone else in danger of being cut off, please call 999 and ask for the coastguard.

The map below will help to show where the sand bar has formed and the danger it imposes.
