Accommodation
The Groom’s Cottage is primarily a fabulous place for couples to stay, it is both modern & traditional and offers fabulous views over the paddock and fields beyond. The lower floor is mostly open plan, with a fabulous natural stone feature wall, which houses a gas flame effect fire and large LED Smart TV. Two large two seater leather sofa’s offer comfort that is second to none. The dining table seats six and the open plan breakfast bar & kitchen are equipped with the usual appliances including a dishwasher and washer/dryer. The master bedroom, again is an open plan large room featuring a kingsize bed and dressing area, with ample storage & hanging space. These are separated only by a gallery landing. All bedding is Egyptian Cotton 300 thread count and complements the tasteful decor throughout. The love seat offers un-interrupted views through the french doors & juliet balcony across the fields and open countryside. The master bathroom/ensuite is very special and features a free standing bath tub against a cotswold natural stone feature wall. Again all towels and linen provided is of the best quality. There is a second bedroom which is perfect for couples with a small family, this offers two single beds, storage & hanging space and has its own ensuite shower room and wc. The Location
The Groom’s Cottage is located in the beautiful and historic village of Minster Lovell, Oxfordshire. The parish of Minster Lovell itself is steeped in history and is split into three wards, Minster Lovell, Little Minster & Old Minster. Minster Lovell is home to the unique Charterville Allotments, which were founded by the Chartists in 1846–50. The local pub The White Hart, a traditional British Pub, which has won awards for its cuisine is a 2 minute drive or try the Dovecote a fabulous restaurant and bar with far reaching views across the Windrush Valley. Old & Little Minster are more in keeping with that traditional Cotswold Village, narrow lanes of thatched cottages & country gardens. Visit the picturesque ruins of Minster Lovell Hall, a 15th century Oxfordshire manor house, lie in a beautiful rural setting beside the River Windrush. Or visit the Old Swan, a quintessentially English inn offering luxurious comfort and delicious menus created from the best of seasonal produce. Where to go and what to do
Witney, is a five minute drive away. It is a thriving local market town situated on the river Windrush, with origins dating back to AD969. Offering free parking it has a unique blend of history, culture and shopping and is a great destination for visitors
With fabulous and easy access to the A40, Cheltenham, Oxford & London are not far away. Cheltenham is a beautiful Spa Town with a historic regency feel and yet buzzing with trendy wine bars and bistros. Oxford, the university city of Dreaming Spires is a must with great shopping, bars and restaurants. Visit the Ashmolean, Natural History & Pitt Rivers museums, not too mention a walk round one of the many famous colleges, The Radcliffe Camera, Christchurch gardens and punting on the River Thames, followed by lunch at one of Inspector Morses favourite haunts. Ten minutes in the other direction is the historic town of Burford. Traditionally known as the ‘Gateway to the Cotswolds’. Burford is a fabulous medieval market town and from here and not much further you can explore the Cotswold including towns such as Tetbury, Stow on the Wold, Bourton on the Water and the beautiful and unique villages of The Slaughters and The Barringtons. The Groom’s Cottage is five minutes away from the RAF Base at Brize Norton, which is fabulous for family & friends visiting with serve personnel at the base. Bampton, the home of Downton Abbey is within easy reach and a 15 minute drive. Here they filmed all the Church and outdoor village scenes. Blenheim Palace and the beautiful town of Woodstock are a short drive and make for a great day out with lots to explore and some fabulous pubs, cafes and restaurants.
