Our Vision Statement is "To equip individuals and communities with the tools and essentials they need to improve the conditions and environment where they are." We run a child sponsorship program; feeding programs; support several schools and help release women and young girls from being sold into prostitution. In addition, we support the building of societal infrastructure like water wells and tr

ee plantations to encourage sustainability.

◾We endeavour to do everything through relationship with complete integrity
◾We work through indigenous leaders and organisations who we know and trust. We keep in regular contact with them and aim to visit them annually.
◾We invest in communities to improve education, basic health and nutrition. We focus on improving the infrastructure that will lead to long term improvements whilst also investing in individuals, particularly in children and young people.
◾All of the children in our sponsorship programmes are known to us and our partners personally. We track their progress and ensure that every penny given by our sponsors goes directly to the children’s development.
◾It is our desire to build relationships with our supporters and sponsors encouraging them to get involved in our development projects and to build links with individuals and communities.

John and Sue have welcomed a new group to their carpentry course this week.

First the students work in pairs to make a stool as they practice measuring, sawing, and mortice and tenon joints. Then they move on to making their own stool.

Here is a new classroom that's been built in Lutoboka, Kalangala a very poor fishing village.

There is always a need to support schools in poor communities to give all children the opportunity to be educated.

It's been a while since our last post so sorry to everyone who's been wondering what we've been up to!

We're always very busy with a large number of projects across East Africa.

We also recently got back from a couple of months in the UK visiting sponsors and twinned schools to update everyone on our work.

Lots of posts to come...

Do you want to visit Uganda in 2024?

Dear friends,

After the successful team visit this year we are looking to organising another team visit next year.

We were looking at 2 possible dates which could work fitting in with school terms in uk and weather in Uganda, but we have settled on one around last week in August and first in September.

The trip will include visits to schools on the island where we are based and the mainland, near Jinja, the source of the Nile and a safari. Plus more!!

The expensive parts of the trip are the flights, vaccinations and safari. I cannot get prices for August yet but should be hopefully similar to this year.
Approximate costs are likely to be around £1000 per person for flights, visa and vaccines - paid for uk side and £1000 for accommodation, food, transport and safari - paid for Uganda side.

The exact program will depend on the day you arrive in Uganda and is subject to change according to conditions in Uganda.

If you are interested in coming to visit Uganda next August please email me. I should be able to give more exact costs by end of September The sooner we can book flights the cheaper it will be.

Please contact me for further details and any questions you may have.

Equipe has been leading teams to visit Uganda for over 15 years.

Looking forward to hearing from you!!

Blessings,
Sue
East Africa Director Equipe

These two girls were dropped in Mweena by their Aunt. All of their family members had died so she left them at the landing site in Kalangala town.

Bridge of Hope school staff found them and the school has offered to provide them with an education. But they have additional needs.

We hear stories like this more often than we'd like and this is why child sponsorship is so important. Many children have little to no family to take care of them and no money to support them.

If you're interested in supporting children in East Africa like these two girls please get in touch.

John and Sue report that the road from Kalangala to Mweena is being repaired! This will make a big difference to them and countless others who travel this road regularly.

It may also mean the truck needs less repairs 🙏.

Uganda

Uganda is the poorest of the three East African countries into which we work, largely due to the political instability during the 1970s and 80s. Uganda is a main focus of Equipe’s projects and in particular, two main areas – Kampala and the Ssese Islands.

Here's a thank you letter written by one of our students to the person who sponsors them.

We love facilitating the communication between sponsors and the children they support. Sponsors always tell us how much they love hearing directly from the children and knowing the difference they are able to make in that child's life. Powerful stuff.

Just a follow up from Museye's surgery for everyone who donated.

Here are the details of the work the surgeon completed, a copy of the hospital bill in Ugandan shillings (it converts to about £1850), photos of Museye in hospital and back at home.

It is so exciting to read that the bone is knitting back together and in 6 months he should be able to walk without a stick!!!! 😍

Thank you to everyone who has helped to give this boy a future.

17/11/2022

Museye's operation has now been completed and paid for by contributions from 12 wonderful people. Thank you all so very much.
He is now home in Nendha.
