Horse race day in Bakhmaro
Yesterday was the famous horse race in Bakhmaro. And we had a winner! The horse of a good friend won one of the races. The highlight of the party on our terrace with best view over the race.
This was the peak of the summer season.

Supporting the local community

In the entrance area of ​​The PIONEERS we provide the Bank of Georgia with a video-monitored room for an ATM. It is the first ATM in Bakhmaro and is particularly important for small businesses such as gaming shops, kiosks and food stalls that do not have a card terminal.
However, in winter the ATM will not be active as it is impossible for the bank to replenish cash.

Wolfsbed Hut, Adjara
The remote mountain hut is particularly popular with groups of friends who want to stay alone for a week on a ridge at an altitude of 2’400 meters. But we also have some dates with mixed, international groups. It is our backcountry destination where we require that everyone has skins in their backpack and is motivated to climb for up to one hour a day. The price in the high season is 2’700,-€ per person and in the low season it is 2’500,-€.

Riders Lodge by PIONEERS

We have been running the Riders Lodge in Bakhmaro since last winter. For next season we are redoing the bathrooms, finishing the floors and ceilings and most importantly we are planning a terrace behind the house. The sauna will also be moved behind the house. We will add a shower and toilets for the sauna and provide access to the hot tub of The PIONEERS.
We have 10 rooms available for 2 groups. Except for one two-room, one-bathroom unit, all rooms have their own bathroom. The price in peak season is 3’200,-€ per person; in the low season 2’800,-€.

Ski tour with bear
At the beginning of the week I did another ski tour on the ridge east of Sarkornia - half way to the Wolfsbed Hut. 200 vertical meters on foot, then hiking boots replaced with ski boots and the remaining 650 meters of altitude on skis. A bear had the same destination, but fled when it saw me from a distance. Quite rare to see a bear so close to Bakhmaro. However, a small bear, I have often seen significantly larger tracks in the area.
I guess, now, finally the ski season is over...

On a ski tour again
The road to Bakhmaro has been open again for a week now and we have started preparing for the summer. But we are also already storing firewood for next winter. Today I did one more ski tour on Chedrekili. The snow still lasts almost to the summit. At the bottom, there is still a good 4 meters on the road - at our Japanese pick-up.

Ski Club Bakhmaro on tour
Ski training and holidays with the team. After Goderdzi Pass and Mestia, we went this year to Gudauri to experience the other side of the ski tourism - this time we were the riders! Again we welcomed some new riders to the club.
A couple of great days with great people...

Last day of the season in Bakhmaro and we got another 20cm of snow - pretty wet to be honest, but still good fun. Beside the last group, we went out with the team to enjoy the snow once more...

Riders Lodge by PIONEERS

Today we proudly open our new Riders Lodge.

Is it 100% finished? No. Is it ready? Yes! - Central heating, private bathrooms, cosy atmosphere in the middle of Bakhmaro close to The PIONEERS. Sauna outside including an ice tub for refreshment. An open lounge with a wood stove in the middle of the house as a meeting point for all our international riders hosted by an all-Georgian Team.

When a team is motivated, it is possible to build a lodge from the scratch within 4 months. We bought the property in spring, we developed the project and got the permission just in time to start building in October. That is management!

All our riders booked in the Bakhmaro Base for this season are upgraded to the Riders Lodge.

Yesterday was a perfect day.
Just one group in Bakhmaro. So far nobody is following our tracks. The snow cold and fluffy, clouds and sun made the day mystical.
Tomorrow we will open project X.
