The processes to reaffirm the boundary between Ghana and its neighbouring country, Burkina Faso, and also to restore the deteriorating boundary pillars to their former state, have started.
This is being led by the Ghana Boundary Commission and its counterparts in Burkina Faso.
According to a report by myjoyonline.com, there are concerns that activities of gold miners, as well as other human activities, have affected the 30-year-old boundary pillars.
As part of the processes, the two parties held a first meeting at Paga, in July 2021.

Take advantage of $2.4 billion circular economy - Government to investors | (Image: The circular economy seminar) | News Source: Ghana News Agency

The circular economy has enormous untapped opportunities
The Government is wooing investors and industries to see the $2.4 billion financing needed to transition Ghana from a linear to a circular economy as a huge investing and business opportunity.
This is because the circular economy has enormous untapped opportunities, which when capitalised, would create sustainable employment, especially for the youth, and support climate change mitigation, while building Ghana, as a green economy.
Dr Kwaku Afriyie, Minister of Environment, Science, Technology, and Innovation, made the call at the second edition of the Circular Economy Seminar in Accra on Thursday.

Gold exports hit US$6.6 billion -
The value of gold export receipts reached US$6.6 billion last year, the Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, Samuel Abu Jinabor, has revealed. The revenue realised from exports of gold declined from US$6.779 billion in 2020 to US$5.083 billion in 2021 due to the contraction in gold production, particularly the near-collapse in volume of gold exports by the small-scale sub-sector.
Gross receipts from the export of minerals waned from US$6.998 billion in 2020 to US$5.241 billion in 2021, a 25 percent downturn. However, gold exports in 2022 alone are more than the total minerals export value for the previous year, according to the minister.
