The Zayaa mosque, as lots of people call it, is located in Wulugu, 14km from Walewale, in the West Mamprusi district of Ghana. It is believed that Sheik Abdul-Karim, a Mossi man from Bawku, migrated to Wulugu and dreamt of a building's design, which led him to signify Allah's provision for its construction. He built the Zayaa Mosque directly above this well, designing it to allow water access from each level, including the upper room. Miraculously, additional levels appeared each morning as he built, resulting in a large, symmetrical four-story mud structure.
He then had another dream in which he was told that the site was to be considered holy ground. For that reason, everyone must remove their shoes before entering.
The well inside the mosque is believed to contain water from Mecca's Zamzam Well, similar to beliefs about the B’ir Barouta Well in Tunisia. Visitors often collect water from the well, believing in its power to bring good luck and healing.

It's our heritage month, which is important in Ghana's history because it marks when we declared independence and started pan-Africanism. This month provides an opportunity to reflect on our history, celebrate our cultural diversity, and assess the present to preserve our collective culture for future generations.

Elmina Castle, built by Portuguese traders in 1482, was the first European slave-trading post in sub-Saharan Africa. Captured by the Dutch in 1637, it became a center for the Dutch slave trade. The castle now serves as a Ghanaian national museum and UNESCO World Heritage Monument, attracting tourists and African Americans exploring their heritage.
