EVENTS IN ATHENS 2018

CITY PROJECT | A PUPPET SUN | KOSTIS VELONIS

A historical neoclassical residence in the center of Athens is activated by NEON for the initiative CITY PROJECT 2017. Velonis employs this historical site in order to reconstitute its history and significance in public, while simultaneously addressing new and unexpected relations between space and works of art that develop in such a distinct environment. The exhibition A Puppet Sun is curated by Vassilis Oikonomopoulos, Assistant Curator, Collections International Art, Tate Modern, London.
In the context of the initiative CITY PROJECT, NEON commissions annually an artist to create a work of art exhibited in a public space for a specific period of time. Through this initiative, NEON aims to the presentation of contemporary art in public and historical sites, contributing to the interaction between art, society and the urban environment. The initiative is implemented for the last four years, with commissions to Zafos Xagoraris for his installation at a parking lot in the centre of Athens in 2016, Maria Loizidou at Kerameikos Archaeological site and Museum in 2015 and Aemilia Papaphilippou at the Ancient Agora of Athens in 2014.
This new commission by NEON is the largest in scale individual presentation of Kostis Veloni’s work till the day. In Α Puppet SunVelonis develops an exhibition defined by new forms of relationships between space and the work of art, inventing an experimental form that corresponds to the unique site of the residence at Kaplanon 11.

EVENTS IN ATHENS 2018

02 November to 15 April

The Museum of Cycladic Art and the Alpha Bank Numismatic Collection, in their first ever collaboration, are organising a major exhibition entitled ‘MONEY. Tangible symbols in ancient Greece’.
The exhibition presents a different side of coins, which first appeared in the late 7th century BC. During antiquity, the coin also had another use, one that is related to its iconography: it was a symbol as well as something that people could hold in their hands, it was a tangible symbol.
The exhibition is structured along eight thematic units, in which 85 coins from the Alpha Bank Collection are exhibited together with 159 objects (clay vases, terracotta figurines, marble and bronze statuettes, reliefs, gold jewellery, measuring vessels, coins from closed assemblages and inscriptions) from 32 archaeological museums and collections in Greece, Italy, France and the United Kingdom, whose iconography is linked directly to each unit’s content.

DECEMBER CUSTOMS IN GREECE

CHRISTMAS IN GREECE AND THE TRADITIONAL CHRISTMAS BOAT: The decoration of the Christmas tree is not a Greek habit. It is said that the first Christmas tree in Greece was decorated by the Bavarian king Otto in 1833. In Greece, according to the tradition, we decorate a boat, mainly on the islands. The boat symbolizes the maritime identity of the country. Greeks, a seafaring nation, of course combined the celebration of Christmas with the sea. The decoration of the ship was also a kind of honor and welcome to the sailors returning home to celebrate Christmas with their families.Children used to make their own boat, using wood and paper and then decorate them with colorful fabrics, cotton and twigs. On Christmas boat in Greece Christmas Eve, many groups of children were singing carols from house to house, having with them the handmade boats and filling them with the treats they received.
Hobgoblins. The hobgoblins are known as kallikantzari in Greek. According to the folk Christmas traditions, the hobgoblins are short, ungly creatures with many deformities. All year round, they live underground and saw the tree of the year. From Christmas until the Epiphany Day (January 6th), they come up to the world and tease people with many pranks. On the Epiphany Day, the priest of the village goes from house to house and sprinkles the rooms with blessed water so that the hobgoblins return underground.

Jour 3 Départ à Philippes, où la première église chrétienne a été construite. St Paul voyage là-bas au cours de son deuxième voyage. Visite de la prison où il était avec Silla, le village de Lydia où Lydia a été baptisé, et visite de Kavala où saint Paul a débarqué avec Timothy. Retour et nuit à Thessalonique.

Jour 4 Départ pour Veria, visite du voisin, églises et maisons byzantines. Visitez le musée archéologique et la civilisation macédonienne. Nuit à Kalambaka.
Jour 5 Visite des Monastères à Kalambaka, construire après le 12ème siècle. Le Grand Météore, St Stephan ou St Trinite.

Jour 1 Arrivée en Grèce, Athènes, accueil par notre représentant et transfert à votre hôtel
Dans l'après-midi, le guide vous emmènera pour avoir un vin goût de vins grecs dans le bar dans le centre d'Athènes, avec des délices. Nuit à Athènes pour profiter de la région de Plaka sous l'Acropole et le temple du Parthénon.Jour 2 Dans la matinée nous commençons avec un goût des aliments locaux. Nous commençons la tournée dans le marché central. Où nous pouvons essayer de la nourriture grecque locale, comme feta, graviera fromage, goûter le Kouolouri doux, ont un café grec, et voir beaucoup d'autres produits. La visite se termine sur la place Monastiraki où vous pourrez admirer les ruines, les tavernes et les boutiques de souvenirs. Dans l'après-midi, visite guidée du Segway avec un guide autorisé pour visiter l'Acropole et ses alentours, le Théâtre de Dionyssos, le site de Céramique, la région de Plaka, l'Agora antique et romaine (marchés). Nuit à Athènes.Jour 3 Départ vers le Péloponèse, une terre très fertile, avec 4000 ans d'histoire et de civilisations, entourée par la mer et ses magnifiques plages. En traversant le canal de Corynth, nous visiterons une production d'huile d'olive. Nous serons guidés par un professionnel à travers les champs d'olives, puis nous verrons le processus de l'huile d'olive. Après le déjeuner dans une taverne locale, nous visiterons le théâtre d'Epidavros. Séjour à Nafplio, un charmant et charmant port avec vieilles maisons de maître de plus de 200 ans. Après le déjeuner à Loutraki, nous pouvons visiter un loft Art, où les clients peuvent avoir des séminaires sur la façon de faire de la céramique et de la peinture, ou comment faire des bijoux anciens, ou d'autres instruments locaux. À la fin ils prendront leur création comme un souvenir.Retour à Athènes. Night dans les voisins de Thissio et Monastiraki.

ATHENES ET GOUT DU VIN EN PELOPONESSE.

JOUR 1. Arrivee à l'aéroport d'Athènes. Accueil et transfert à l'hôtel. La soirée commence par un tour panoramique court à travers le centre-ville et sur les pentes de la colline sacrée, vous serez en mesure de voir, admirer et prendre des photos du l’Acropolis. Ensuite une agréable promenade à travers les rues étroites et pittoresques de Plaka et la vieille ville, vous amènera à la taverne grecque typique où vous pourrez profiter de votre dîner après un spectacle avec de la musique et des danses folkloriques grecques en costumes traditionnels.
JOUR 2. Premier arrêt du site archéologique antique à Ancient Nemea. Visitez d’un vignoble, dans l'ancienne Nemea. Dejeuner a Nemea. Visitez Mantineia pays du vin, dans le joli village de Kapsia. Un lieu magique dans la campagne Arcadian unique, entouré par des montagnes idylliques Le reste de la journée est à votre disposition du village de Kapsia, Arkadia. Profitez de votre repas du soir à l'un des nombreux restaurants de l'Taverna, dans la région. Nuit à Némée ou Nauplie.
JOUR 3. Départ de Kapsia, Arkadia. Visitez le vignoble de la region Artemisio. Ensuite visitez d’un deuxième vignoble, Tegea. Déjeuner dans le village dans la région. Le repas du soir au taverna en Kapsia, ou un autre village. Nuit à Némée.
JOUR 4. Départ de Kapsia, Arkadia.
Visitez le vignoble Skouras, Argos et vignoble Papadonis a Argos. Déjeuner dans le village dans la région. Arrivée à Nauplie pour la nuit. Profitez de votre repas du soir à l'un des nombreux restaurants dans la région de Nauplie Vieille Ville.
JOUR 5. Départ de Nauplie. Arrêt et visite du théâtre antique d'Epidaure. Epidaure était une petite ville dans la Grèce antique dans le golfe Saronique. Réputé pour être le lieu de naissance du fils d'Apollon, Asclépios le guérisseur, Epidaure était connu pour son sanctuaire situé à environ 8 km de la ville, ainsi que son théâtre, qui est une fois encore en usage aujourd'hui. Retour à Athènes et votre Hôtel à Athènes pour la nuit.
JOUR 6. Transfert de l'hôtel à l'aéroport d'Athènes.

CRETE – SEJOUR 8 JOURS

JOUR 1 Arrivée a l’aéroport de Chania et transfert a l ‘hôtel a la ville de Chania.

JOUR 2 EXCURSION – SFAKIA – SAMARIA GORGE

Départ de l’hôtel en bus avec destination la Gorge de Samaria. Vous longez toute la côte nord de la Crète d’est en ouest : la route de Chania jusqu’à Xyloskalo (à l’entrée des gorges) permet découvrir des pittoresques villages des plaines et des montagnes. Longue de 18km la randonnée dans ces gorges vous invite à découvrir la beauté sauvage de son paysage : des sources claires ainsi que la flore passionneront les amoureux de la nature.
Le passage a été creusé par un torrent entre le principal sommet des « Montagnes Blanches » (Léfkä Öri) et le Mont Volikas . A certains endroits le passage atteint à peine 3 mètres de large tandis que les parois s’élèvent à plus de 600 mètres. Les gorges aboutissent au village d'Agia Roumeli, où vous pourrez vous reposer ou encore vous baigner dans les eaux de la Mer de Lybie avant de rejoindre Hora Sfakion par bateau. Retour a l’hôtel . Nuit a Chania.

JOUR 3 TOUR A CHANIA VILLE EN BUS AVEC GUIDE-AGHIA TRIADA MUSEE.



Chania est la deuxième plus grande ville de l'île après Héraklion. Il y avait une ville minoenne importante croyait aux evenements de l'ancienne Cydonia. La vieille ville de La Canée est considérée comme l'un des plus beaux endroits de Crète, avec son joyau - le charmant vieux port vénitien de Chania, lieu idéal pour un café du matin, visites touristiques, promenades romantiques le soir, shopping et vie nocturne. JOUR 4 EXCURSION EN BUS RETHYMNO–ARCADI MONASTERIE EN BUS AVEC GUIDE

Le Saint Monastère de Arkadi est un monastère historique en Crète. Selon la tradition fondée par l'empereur de Héraklion et reconstruit autour du 5ème siècle par l'empereur byzantin Arcadius, dont le nom porte en son honneur. Nuit a Heraklion.

JOUR 5 TOUR A HERAKLION VILLE + ARCHEOLOGICAL MUSEE – KNOSSOS PALACE EN BUS AVEC GUIDE.

Première visite : le palais de Knossos à 6 kms d’Héraklion. Le palais du roi Minos date de 2500 ans avant JC, au moment où la civilisation minoenne était la civilisation la plus avancée en Europe. JOUR 6 EXCURSION A GORTYS-AG.TYTOS-PHAISTOS-MATALA EN BUS AVEC GUIDE

Visitée Gortyna ce petit tresor situé dans le site archéologique de Gortyn, l'une des plus grandes villes de l'antiquité et l'église de Saint-Tite à Gortys qui est l'un des monuments les plus imposants de l'architecture byzantine. Continuons a Phaistos qui est célèbre pour son palais, un site archéologique qui reçoit des milliers de visiteurs par an. Le palais de Phaistos a été construit sur une colline dans la plaine de Messara, avec une vue panoramique sur les environs. Il est au deuxième rang après le site de Knossos occupant une superficie de 72 hectare.
On fini la visite avec Matala et sa plage de sable de 300 mètres de long du même nom et les innombrables grottes creusées dans les hautes falaises qui l'entourent, formant une baie fermée à l'abri. C'est l'une des destinations les plus populaires en Crète. Nuit a Héraklion.

JOUR 7 EXCURSION A LASSITHI -PSYCHRO-CAVE DYKTE-KRYTSA-PANAGHIA KERA EN BUS AVEC GUIDE.

La préfecture de Lassithi dispose d'excellentes installations touristiques et les stations telles que Agios Nikolaos, Elounda, Sitia et Ierapetra ont acquis une réputation mondiale et accueille chaque année des milliers de visiteurs de tous les coins du monde. La région est idéale pour les promenades dans la nature, le tourisme religieux, les recherches historiques et archéologiques, et les terres fertiles qui produisent les plus grandes quantités de fruits et légumes de la Crète, une excellente huile de qualité et de raisins secs. Visitée l'impressionnant grotte de Dikteon, riche en stalactites et stalagmites, la légende dit que Zeus est ne dans cette grotte. En rentrant dans la grotte Diktaion comprend cinq chambres plus grandes et plus petites. Le point le plus frappant est le lac entouré d'immenses stalactites et stalagmites et est à son niveau le plus bas. Le paysage dans le canyon Krytsa est impressionnant. Le lit de la rivière envahissantes recouvrent par des arbres, des chênes, lauriers roses et de nombreuses caractéristiques des plantes endémiques de Crète, alors que dans les cavités des murs abritent de nombreux oiseaux. Les murs sont impressionnants en hauteur et dans certains endroits très proches (1,5 mètres). Parfois, il faut monter des rochers lisses pour traverser le lit de la rivière. Nuit a Héraklion.

FEBRUARY CUSTOMS IN GREECE

Greek Monday marks the end of Greek carnival, and the beginning of Lent, the fact which lasts until Easter.
On this day, families go for a picnic-without meat, with tasty seafood and vegetarian dishes, with a special bread (lagana). Also this day is characteristic for the kite flying. You can enjoy the skies, with hundreds of kites in all over Greece. This custom is because some say that flying kite was an attempt by man to scare away evil or that is symbolic for a person sending away all bad things, getting purified.
In late Mid February Greece's Carnival Season called Apokrias (period of carnavals), begins and lasts two weeks. The festivities are particularly enjoyable in Naousa, Veria, Kozani, Zante, Skyros, Xanthi, Chios(in Mesta, Olimbi, Thymiana), Galaxidi, Thebes(where a mock shepards wedding is held), Poligiros, Lamia, Kefalonia, Messini, Soho, Seres, Agiassos in Lesvos, Karpathos, Herklion in Crete, Amfissa, Efxinoupolis(Volos), Agia Ana(Evia),Rethymnon in Crete and especially in Patras and in Athens.

Tajmahal began his music career in the Factory club 1992, Lyon, and as co-manager of the Kobdo, one of the first Techno clubs in Lyon.In 1995, he became a label DJ with the legendary TRANSPACT, and as co-writer with ASIA 2001.This collaboration produced 4 albums, of which Tajmahal contributed to 3 or 4 tracks on each.Taj is becoming better known for his long Ambient Uptempo Sets.At Soulclipse in Turkey, Taj presented a completely new downtempo live actIn 2006 He became label manager for ELECTRIK DREAM.Nowadays Tajmahal splits his time in between Chill out and Progressiv Morning Trance projects and also some More Electro/Tech/ Trance projects.His first release “Butterfly Ritual” on Electrik Dream was on his compilation Cosmik Chill – Red March 2006.In 2007 he released « Star Circus », his first album for Electrik Dream.Currently, he is Working on a chill out Ethnik project UASCA in collaboration with Dj fluxo (Quest4goa-Portugal). In Africa there is nothing more useful than rhythm. The pace allows you to do everything: to work, to celebrate, to mourn, to communicate, and relieve your soul. The African dance, then, carried out under the es**rt of African percussion (rhythm), it is more than an art expression. It is a lifestyle, a way of being. It works therapeutically through awareness and freedom of body connecting the individual with his own internal rhythmic power. The parts of the lesson is 1) Warming which is intended, unless preheating of the muscles, the release of the neck, the chest, pelvis, hands understanding how each body part is moved separately from the rest. 2) Familiarity with the African dance through simple and basic steps. 3) Delivery choreography and song inspired by the tradition of West Africa. 4) stretching and relaxation exercises focusing on breathing.
