Mountain. Sea. Colour.
My Home in Olympus is the ideal holiday home for those who want to feel at home when in vacation. The ones who want, in other words, to enjoy their holidays slowly, taking their time, without employees or personnel constantly reminding them that they are simple visitors.
It was not created as yet another tourist accommodation in a settlement that explodes in the summer and withers away during the winter. It was built as a main, luxurious residence, to accommodate an extended family in a typical, no frills village of the Greek countryside.
My Home in Olympus is to be found in a property of approximately 1 000 square meters (one acre). It has one space of closed parking, for you to literally park the car inside the house, should you so wish, two open parking spaces inside the field, and an unlimited number of places in the surrounding streets.
It is made up of four levels. A basement, an upper and a lower ground floor, and a first floor.
The common areas, an impressive living and dining room with fireplace and a very big fully equipped kitchen, are to be found on the upper ground floor. There is also a toilet and a small storage area. The lower ground floor is the first living nucleus with two bedrooms, a WC with shower and a work room that includes the washing machine, the ironing board etc. The upper floor is the second living nucleus with another two bedrooms, an office with its own storage area, and a two-space toilet with a bathroom.
The floors are made of Greek luxurious marble in all the common areas. Its office, as well as its four bedrooms, are covered with warm wood while its three bathrooms are adorned with stylish tiles. A utilitarian, durable tile adorns the storage and working areas.
My Home in Olympus can accommodate eight people in its bedrooms. It can however be adapted to your needs, should you require it, to accommodate up to twelve people, by also adding the sofa beds in its big living room and its fully equipped kitchen. Two beds for infants are available for families with very young kids. If you have a need for additional beds like these, we will be happy to accommodate you.
In the one-acre garden you can relax in the deck chairs while your kids play carefree, enjoying the hospitable sun of Mount Olympus. Parking will never be an issue for your vehicle or vehicles in the area, neither will be traffic on the road or any other nuisance.
For those who must stay professionally active during their holidays, the office (wi-fi, wireless printer) allows you to do just that. For the book lovers and movie fans, My Home in Olympus has a book and film library that we are constantly expanding. Our satellite connection gives you access to the main TV networks in Greece and abroad.
My Home In Olympus lets you experience the Greek summer in a unique combination of mountain and sea, entertainment and culture, tradition and innovation, away from the rowdy and beaten path of package holidays.
The property is on the foothills of Mount Olympus, in Pyrgetos, overlooking the rich plains of Thessaly before the Tempi valley from an altitude of 140 meters. Pyrgetos is a no frills village of the Greek countryside with 2 000 inhabitants, that lives and breathes during the whole year, without population spikes during the summer season. It is easily and immediately accessible through the A1 motorway (Athens – Thessaloniki), which is known by its European moniker E75.
Amongst others, Pyrgetos is at a distance of:
- 10 minutes (10 km) from the verdant picturesque valley of Tempi, a NATURA protected area;
- from 10 to 25 minutes (from 15 to 25 km) from eight different BLUE FLAG awarded beaches (3 in Nea Mesaggala, Neoi Poroi, Platamonas, Skotina, Leptokarya, Plaka Litochorou);
- 15 minutes (17 km) from the Castle of Platamonas, standing since the 13th century;
– 20 minutes (18 km) from the Pinios delta, a protected CORINE habitat and also a NATURA protected area;
- 40 minutes (43 km) from Dion where the tomb of Philip the Second, the father of Alexander the Great, was found;
- 75 minutes (120 km) from Thessaloniki, a major airport, the second biggest city in Greece and capital of Macedonia;
- 90 minutes (125 km) from the impressive monasteries of Meteora.
The area offers travellers plenty to experience; it has a rich cultural history with ancient ruins, churches and chapels; picturesque hikes on its varied terrain, among fields and vineyards; and a host of activities from swimming and water sports to wine-related events in many of the neighbouring villages. Pyrgetos is known for its agricultural production and its fresh produce, and especially its kiwis for which it is globably acclaimed.
The area's microclimate is dry and warm during the later spring and summer season, as well as the early autumn season, with cool nights. There are seldom any extreme weather phenomena, with transient as much as welcome summer rains to highlight the tang of the fertile soil of Thessaly and chill down the air. The village has supermarkets, restaurants, coffee shops and bars, none of which is as near to My Home In Olympus as to cause a disturbance. Pyrgetos itself, outside its big annual festival on the 23rd and 24th of August, is not a major tourist magnet. This makes it ideal as a calm base in order for one to explore the destinations in Thessaly and Macedonia.
For 2020, a night for up to 6 people costs 140 EUR. From 7 to 12 people each night costs 195 EUR. There is a minimum charge of five nights. A one-time cleaning fee of 195 EUR is applied per full stay.
