Interview with our CEO, Tasos Chatziliamis, for the ERT News channel about the unique initiative “RODOS WEEK”. This action was initiated by the Greek government, with aim to provide financial assistance to individuals, who stayed in hotels that were evacuated during the wildfires in July 2023.

Here are a few glimpses of an interview with our CEO and Secretary-General of the Union of Travel Agencies of the Dodecanese region, Mr. Tasos Chatziliamis, regarding this summer season:
“I see, this season will be a good one. I would emphasize that we move at the same and even better pace as in 2023.”

“The German market has gradually seen a drop in early bookings over the past three years, but despite all that, the island of Rhodes is at better levels than other destinations.”

“France, Poland, the Czech Republic, Romania, and also Scandinavian countries, they are all doing really well, and the demand grows steadily. In Italy, there is a monopoly by one tour operator who has most of the market, and so any increase could be covered by individual customers.”

“Prices are clearly increased, but not to the point of making the destination unattractive. In general, our prices are affordable in relation to the product we sell, and we aim that the increase is only reasonable.”

“The Union of Travel Agencies of the Dodecanese made a proposal for a 7-day visa for Turkish citizens, which is a success for our islands as that will increase the influx of customers from the neighboring country.”

“What should be improved is the road network. The ports of entry - we need to work on making our islands more attractive, sustainable, and better in terms of infrastructure.”

Today our team together with the organization Για την Φύση / Common Nature, had a wonderful opportunity to contribute in planting new olive trees and help to regrow an olive grove at the beautiful Ypseni Monastery / Ιερά Μονή Παναγίας Υψενής.

The Monastery was heavily affected by last years’s fires and we are happy to see how its people are actively motivating others to rehabilitate the natural environment.

Thank you for this opportunity and we are grateful to be part of it.

After some very difficult days for Rhodes island, finally the fires have been put out. The whole government and regional mechanism has pushed forward for all the necessary resources and funds to be allocated immediately and actually this effort has started already for many days.

The affected tourist areas are being prepared for the re-opening which will gradually happen until the end of next week.

Rhodes is open for its visitors and its beauties are awaiting all guests.

We take out from this disaster the following to be kept and remember:

•The local support to the affected areas and to tourist
•The Volunteerism of the whole island that opened its hearts and doors to all affected visitors
•The bravery of the firefighters and volunteer fire fighters
•The mobilization of all related entities, authorities, tour operators, hotels, DMC’s, reps and personnel to safely evacuate the clients to the safe zones
•The constant efforts of everyone for the safety of all people affected
•The energy and will to re-build and reconstruct everything so that we can safely restart tourism in the affected areas

We would like to send out a wholeheartedly THANK YOU to everyone who contributed to all activities related to the fire-fighting, evacuation, organization, logistics, catering, hospitality and finally to those who without thinking offered to the affected people, guests and islanders, anything they had and could to make them feel better.

Finally we would like to mention that Rhodes is absolutely safe and the life on the island continues normally.
We are expecting our valuable guests to come and experience the beauties of the amazing island of Rhodes.
