Friday Update: Front 1/2 of the house is primed! The spiral staircase has been removed. We are having design us something special. Overall the crew with continues to make progress… I was busy taking advantage of Labor Day Sales ordering furniture and furnishings!!

Friday Update: Sorry I didn’t do one last week. Was a lot of the same things as the week before only a little further along. Roof Done, Floors are probably 3/4 of the way installed but still need sanded and finished. The big news for the week is the windows are being installed!!! A ton of work happening behind the scene with all the finishes, furnishings and details!

Flights are starting to go down in price for next winter.

For the local followers. Sioux Falls to Roatan $494/pp Feb 3 - Feb 10. Group of 6 staying in our beautiful beach house would be $5200! ($319 a night booked direct)

Midweek Update - Roof should be done today!!! They are prepping and leveling the subfloor for the final flooring to be installed. The Sheetrock mud and taping continues. Cabinet Doors are being glued up, and the trim work is starting to be milled.

On Tuesday we went with EastRoatan Tours captained by Tyller. This is just one of the stops - pigeon cay. The kids loved swimming with the sharks!!!

Yesterday we went and visited Chewy a capuchin at Hole in the Wall - water access only dive bar/restaurant close to the house on the south side of the island. It’s a unique place for sure!!!

Friday Update: Been slacking on posting photos while I have been down. Cabinets are almost done - boxes done and a lot of the doors glued up. Water is all roughed in and being pressure tested. Roof is getting closer - that took way longer than I expected.

Had dinner at Lotos tonight with the boys!! It was amazing food. Beautiful night when we showed up, then a little storm, then back to beautiful again by the time our food was ready…. Definitely not a fancy but just the way I like it - great service, view and food!!

National Hammock Day!!!! Everyone knows I love relaxing I Hammocks!!! There is a hammock on the end of the dock already and we will have a hammock lounge area in the shade below the house. Do you have a favorite hammock picture please share :)

Have you ever held a sloth?? They are soo soft and chill. Over in French Cay is Daniel Johnson’s Monkey and Sloth Hangout. They are an animal rescue where you can hold the animals. The monkey’s get all up in your personal space and are hilarious to watch.

Friday Update: This week they had planned to start sheetrocking but I asked them to hold off until we knew more about where the hurricane was going. They got most of the railings up, garage siding, and figuring out they want to build the square spiral staircase.

With Hurricane Beryl sweeping thru the Caribbean brings me to the topic of weather on the island. The best source I have found is Roatan Weather for daily weather updates.. What I see on the weather channel or other apps is rarely correct, especially the rain forecast. But back to Beryl - it is trending north and we shouldn't see too bad of weather. Hopefully brings some much-needed moisture and not a lot of heavy winds.

Friday Update: Not a lot of pictures today. But the siding is done on the house and all the plumbing/electrical is roughed in! Hurricane straps are being installed, and the spiral staircase has been started. Next week they will continue on the staircase, prepping/starting installing the Sheetrock, the steel for the roof will be in so that may start going on also.

Little Midweek update - the last corner waiting to be sided, digging a trench for electric and fiber (internet) connection to the main panel of the house. We had a temporary sub panel up during the construction. The stack of 2x2 will be used around the exterior of the home to tie the roofs to the walls (hurricane straps) O and a closet door for the 1/2 bath is in the works. I am not sure how I am going to get all the sawdust out of the sand yet…

House update / walk thru video. Sorry I have been quiet - in Roatan checking out the house build and diving. Both of the boys are getting open water scuba certified. We have been having fun!!!

Great Video Update from our builder Ben Welcome. It also shows the great ocean front location! Windows have been finalized and a lot of the interior finishing!! Supposed to be enclosed when I am down beginning of June!!! Reminder we have a super amazing special for new reservations starting January 2025!! @bentrumanwelcome

Sometimes during the construction phase you uncover issues with the design or how everything comes together. In this case it looks like we are getting even larger overhangs!! These overhangs I think look cool but also help keep the sun off the house which will help keep it cooler!! #tropicalconstruction #balidesign

Another great update video from Ben! I love that he films and shows me the progress on a regular basis!!! It makes building 2000 miles away a lot more comfortable! On top they are still working on the north side of the roof but it’s getting close. Right now it looks like a pile of tooth picks waiting to tumble :)

Walls going up!!!

Walls are being laid out - next week it will be so great to see with my own eyes!! Thanks to @garciaduckerarchitecture for the video and the amazing design!

No clue what is being said :( - I really need to work on my Spanish - English is common / almost standard at any stores on the island but laborers etc pretty much all speak Spanish. 4800gal cistern is in place!!!

Still working on the details of our build - specifically how to handle building 1/3rd of the complete home a few years before the rest… As for happenings in Roatan, the pool refinish project sounds complete. Hopefully I can get some good photos of that soon. It’s been a super wet raining season!! A large truck damaged the bridge going into the property but it will get fixed soon..
