I mean the pictures say it all, a small piece of heaven...

City of Kastela is situated on the coast of Kastela Bay and with over 40 000 inhabitants is the second largest city in the Split-Dalmatia County. It extends the length of 17 kilometers.
The uniqueness of town of Kastela lies in the fact that it developed around seven places (Kastel Sucurac, Kastel Gomilica, Kastel Kambelovac, Kastel Luksic, Kastel Stari, Kastel Novi, Kastel Stafilic) or around castles, and each place has its own peculiarities that characterize the Mediterranean landscape. In recent years, in addition to these seven centers two smaller centers have developed, Radun and Rudine.

The eastern part of the city is Kaštel Sućurac, a small industrial center where is a cement factory and mill and many shopping centers.
Agriculture is developed in the Kastela field and on the slopes of Kozjak on crops which is traditional for this region. In recent years, a production of olive oil, grapes and cherries has undergone expansion.
The western part of the city's tourism-oriented. This is an area where there is the largest number of accommodation - tourist apartments, rooms for rent, camping, hotels, ... A newly built Marina Kastela which is located in Kastel Gomilica.
Kastela is an ideal spot for a family vacation outside the tourist crowds. The vicinity of Split and Trogir guarantees plenty of entertainment and a great choice for a night out. The proximity to the airport provides excellent connections to major European destinations.

For those who prefer active vacation we recommend Malacka saddle (480 m), which can be reached by marked haiking trails. At the saddle there are two mountain huts: Malacka and Split which also represent the starting point of hiking trails to Kozjak and Kaštelanska hinterland. It is also the most easily accessible lookout with magnificent views of the Kastelansko Velo and Malo polje (field), Kastela bay, Split, Marjan, Trogir and central islands.

CITY OF TROGIR
Trogir is one of the best preserved Romanesque cities in this part of Europe. Settled just 27 kilometres north-west from Adriatic’s biggest city of Split, Trogir is often called the museum city due to its historic and cultural importance. It has been UNESCO protected since 1997 as World Heritage.
The town was founded in 3rd century before Christ by Greeks. There were later Roman, Venetian and even French conquerors who intended to take control of it. And the result is a rich history of Trogir, the town between the mainland coast and the island of Ciovo. The history has helped the town to be one of the most interesting tourist spots in Croatia. St. Lawrence Cathedral, fortress Kamerlengo from 14th century, fortress St.Mark from 15th century, medieval palace of Cipiko family, but also a number of other Romanesque-renaissance buildings make Trogir unforgettable. That’s the reason why thousands and thousands fans of culture gather to Trogir.
The members of world’s jet-set often visit it, too because they simply want to visit such an exclusive place.
An international airport nearby Trogir helps the town to develop its tourism and to boost the living standard of some 13,000 inhabitants. Therefore more than half of town’s budget comes from tourism, despite the strong history of ship building industry.
Trogir and the nearby island of Ciovo have been connected with a bridge. That helps tourists to easy access beaches as well as marina at the other side of the channel.

City Split

The story of Split is already 17 centuries old, dating to the time the Roman Emperor Diocletian decided to build his Palace right on the peninsula near the great Roman city Salona, where he wanted to spend the last years of his life. During these 1700 years the Palace slowly turned into a city, which to this day lures with its rich tradition, glorious history and beauty of its natural and cultural heritage.
Diocletian Palace and the entire historical core of Split have been on the World Heritage UNESCO list ever since 1979, and not only for the extraordinary preservation of the Palace, but also because the Palace and its city (or the city and its Palace, if you like) continue to live a full life. All historical layers from the old Rome, middle ages till today are still visible and alive in this structure. A walk through the ancient city takes you through time, along the great examples of ancient architecture like Peristyle, the middle aged Romanesque Church and Gothic Palace, Renaissance portals of the noblemen’s houses, Baroque facades and modern architecture superbly merged in the rich heritage.
Such stratification is mirrored in everyday life of Split. Local inhabitants sit in the same cafes, restaurants, shop in the same stores as tourists, giving them the impression that, by arriving to Split, they became a part of the city and its rhythm. The vegetable market and the fish market represent the centre of each family’s life in Split, just as the entire social life of this city of 200 thousand reflects on the Riva (waterfront), where every guest should endeavour to have his coffee alongside noisy, temperamental folk of Split.
Split is much more than glorious architectural scenery. Split is also a venue for excellent gourmet and vine experiences, numerous cultural happenings like film and theatre festivals, exhibitions, excellent museums and concerts, a city which offers eclectic modes of entertainment starting with numerous clubs and bars, through street festivals to events such as Ultra Europe Festival visited each year by up to 100 thousand young people from around one hundred countries of the world. Split with its sport results is something only a handful of cities of similar size around the world can boast about as it is the home of a dozen Olympic medal winners as well as other sports medals.
When you tire of the city bustle, there’s Marjan, hill symbol over the city, with its forest, jogging trails, mountain climbing and biking, recreational terrains, but also the ancient churches where the late citizens of Split sought spiritual peace. Also very unusual to find in a city the size of Split are the numerous beaches with extraordinarily clean sea, from the well known Bačvice to the stone secluded oases’ all around Marjan.
After all that’s said are you at all surprised that citizens of Split have a saying "There is no place like Split”?
