Long before Indonesia proclaimed as a free country on August 17th, 1945, there was a kingdom name Majapahit. They have a Patih (military commander -hope it's precise translation :) name Gajah Mada. An ancient history told that the name of Majapahit taken from a fruit name Maja. When the commander and the troops (now it's sounds like a Legend) felt so hungry some day, in the place nowhere, a troop picked Maja and ignored the knowledge that it's not to eat. He broke the Maja and ate it. Some second later he jumped and run around while shouting "Pahit, Pahit! which means "Bitter, Bitter! This moment turned into a life comedy for the troops. They was very happy at the time, laughing.
"That's is the story of Majapahit name come from" my father said. When I asked him "how it's possible that a name come after a kingdom formed" he said, "you kid, don't ask to much"

Finally, if all the inhabitants of Indonesia in thousand of islands have the same refference about this wonderful fruits, WE ARE SO LUCKY. Maja still exist beautifully in Casa Babi, Canggu, the sister of Indigo House Bali.
