Paddling is one of the most demanding skills in surfing and it could be rather tiring for beginners. The flexibility and agility are also important as well. Surfing is a motion sport, and you should be able to jump fast from a prone to an upright position, squat, rotate your hips etc.

The real surfing requires many hours of practice.
Every beginner needs hours of practice to learn how to paddle, manage the board and pop-up in the green waves. And only through the constant surf practice they can get the feeling of the ocean. So if you think that several group lessons in a surf school is enough to become a surfer, we are sorry to disappoint you – it's not that easy.

But, the good news, 5-7 lessons with personal guide in the real surf conditions make you ready for further training by your own in easy waves.

Bali has a dry and a wet season. Although there might be more rainy days during the wet season, Bali has hot temperatures and warm comfortable water almost all year round. (Just couple of months - July and August - the ocean water is colder, and surfers use wetsuit)
The dry season is from April to October and during those months offshore wind as usual comes to west coast breaks. So it means you can catch best surfing conditions in any break from Uluwatu and further to Airport area, Kuta, Canggu and Balian.
From November to April the winds can change direction from Westerly to Easterly, that's why offshore conditions comes to east breaks of Bali – from Geger beach on the South and further to Nusa Dua, Serangan, Sanur, Keramas.

Despite the seasonal forecasting even in January it could be still possible to find perfect waves on west coast, just as in July catch surfable conditions on the east coast.

It's one of frequently asked questions about surfing, but let's make clear what does it actually mean "to learn how to surf"?

Learning the basics – how to stand up on a longboard and ride foamie (white water wave) in the shallow beach break – is quite easy and uncomplicated, and you can do it on your first surf lesson while on vacation.

Improving real surfing skills can take months of practice and there will be a lot to enhance and correct. Becoming an advanced surfer, who able to ride serious waves in different breaks and under different ocean conditions, can take many years.

In Bali we have many surf spots with different waves suitable for beginners intermediate and advanced surfers. Usually surfers need some info and help to get into unknown lineup, so that's why our team of surf guides make surf tours for experience surfers.

Your personal surf guide choose the best waves for you according to the current ocean conditions, come to your place in the morning, pick you up and drive to the chosen surf spot. On the place the surf guide explain the features about the break, go into the water, surf with you and help to catch as many waves as possible. After surfing he drop you back to your place. We also provide surf boards for rent if it's needed.
