It is truly amazing to host you wonderful parents of our primary section in our very first coffee morning! Even though we did not manage to have coffee and cakes as we are still a virtual campus due to the COVID lock-downs, we hope that you gain an understanding of the initiatives that we have planned for this academic year. To commemorate Kartini Day,the Student Council held a celebration together with the Secondary-JC students,with film screenings, discussion & trivia quiz.

A short clip from the film Kartini depicted the rich socio-political and socio-cultural struggle, highlighting women in that era and what transpired to their liberation.

This celebration aims to remind students to continue fighting for gender justice and appreciate the history behind Kartini's legacy.

Parents are our student's first teachers. They give life to our little ones and shower them with love and support. As wonderful as it is to be a parent, it can also be a very difficult and thankless job. There is a quote that goes “anyone who says raising kids is not the hardest job in the world, is not doing it right”. Parenting during a pandemic is something no parent expects to do and has made an already difficult job that much harder.

Join us this Friday 7 May for our Preschool Parent Appreciation Day where both students and teachers celebrate and honor all that the parents have done, and continue to do to love, support, guide, and raise them, especially during such challenging times.

As a national hero, Kartini’s birthday is celebrated every year on the 21st of April. However, 21st April is about more than the birth of a hero, it’s also a celebration of women all around Indonesia. She was a pioneer in the area of education for girls and women's rights for Indonesians. The day marks the celebration of our past struggles, present contributions to society, and future victories.

Kartini Day is an essential national day that should be celebrated by all, which is why our Preschoolers came to online school dressed in batik and participated in fun Kartini Day activities. We started the day with a puppet show about ibu Kartini’s life and contributions and sung a few Indonesian songs. The students then joined their respective classrooms for art, fashion shows, and poetry reading. At the end of the day, our children took home with them a piece of information about the rich Indonesian heritage.

"IT'S A DREAM COME TRUE!"

That's how Rylen, a graduate of BBS Primary, described it when asked what he thought about the recognition he recently received from The Indonesian World Record Museum (MURI) as "The Youngest Male Novel Writer In English"!

According to Rylen, he had always dreamt of making his own mark even when he was still a young Primary student here in Bina Bangsa School.

Last Good Friday Rylen obliged to an interview with another BBS student where he talked about his book that won him such distinction.

'The Bounty Hunter and other Short Stories' is a collection of 15 all-original short stories Rylen wrote as a gift to himself in anticipation of his 15th birthday.

Had he written them as mere compliance to an academic requirement, the book would have easily qualified as an excellent project. But no, it was not for a school project.

It might come as a surprise, but Rylen wrote his 15 stories and turned them into a book simply out of sheer pleasure of writing. He was doing what he loves the most. And he did it so well.

When asked directly whether studying in BBS played any role in what he has achieved today, without hesitation he proudly shared that his English classes in particular- including all the writing activities he did back then, directly influenced his English writing skill!

To BBS students aspiring to become a writer or an author like him someday, he gives the following advice:

✅READ A LOT. What you fill your mind with will be the same stuff that will come out of it.
✅JUST WRITE IT. It's important to capture ideas even in its raw form so you don't lose it. Use a notebook, a tablet or laptop- whichever works best for you.
✅LEARN TO MOTIVATE YOURSELF. For Rylen, it could be as simple as finding a good place in the house to sit and enjoy some tea while listening to his favorite playlist.

Audrey embarked on an unusual global journey to become a pastry expert. As part of her passion in baking, Audrey sought to acquire specialised culinary skills from the world’s best pastry chefs in Australia and Paris.

Audrey graduated with a major in Culinary Arts from the highly credentialed Le Cordon Bleu Sydney, Australia in 2014 and Bellouet Conseil, Paris by 2018.

Audrey is a successful Pastry Maker, who has owned her pastry business “Odré” since 2020. Audrey proudly enjoys introducing her pastry pleasures to the palate of her customers in Semarang.

Samuel pursued a bachelor's degree all the way to doctoral college at the University of Nottingham Ningbo China (UNNC) on a scholarship path.

The doctoral education majoring in Chemical Engineering took 3 years, specializing in Lithium-ion Battery Recycle research under the guidance of Dr. Philip Hall (UNNC) and Professor Michael W. George (UNUK). He successfully completed the doctoral program at the age of 24 years and 10 months.

Samuel completed this amazing journey in October 2020, and won an award for "The Youngest Phd. Holder of Chemical Engineering" at the age of 24 years and 10 months, from the Indonesian-World Record Museum (MURI).
