Scuba diving is our passion and Raja Ampat is our home base. We rebuilt the traditional sailing Phinisi KLM GAYA BARU INDAH for diving in 2018.

On our traditional sailing ship, the GAYA BARU INDAH, we offer affordable liveaboard cruises for budget conscious divers and small groups in the Papua and Maluku provinces of Indonesia. BIG BLUE INDONESIA was founded by a group of scuba diving enthusiasts from Germany, France, Korea and Canada. in the Papua and Maluku provinces of Indonesia. Raja Ampat is our main area of operation but we also offer cruises to Triton Bay and the Banda Sea. Unlike many other operators, we are permanently based in Raja Ampat. We buy as much of our supplies as possible from local farmers, fisherman and traders and contribute to the local community as part of our effort to support sustainable tourism. Our cruises on GAYA BARU INDAH last from 7 to 12 days depending on the route. We change our routes frequently, so those who look for a long cruise can combine 2 cruises and enjoy 2 entirely different journeys. For example combine Raja Ampat to Triton Bay with Triton Bay to the Banda Sea and enjoy a great adventure for 24 days. Our focus is first class diving and providing an unforgettable experience for our guests. We are conservation minded and promote a no touch approach to diving. Our permanent crew is multi lingual and speaks English, German, Korean and Indonesian. Guests can also book our boat for a private charter. This is ideal for a family or group of friends who wants to enjoy privacy and a custom tailored cruising route. Our KLM Gaya Baru Indah has just finished her annual dry dock maintenance. See some pictures and get an idea what maintenance on a traditional wooden ship is about. She will soon be ready for new adventures in Raja Ampat and beyond.

The reefs of Kawe Island in northern Raja Ampat would be severely damaged if nickel mining would start on Kawe. The demand for nickel is growing as it is needed for electric cars' batteries.
