PJ Duffy started off playing in the St. Muredach’s Brass Band in the late 1950′s and started playing dance bands, starting with Bobby McCaffery’s band. PJ moved to the Dominoes showband. They were later were renamed the Montrose Show Band having completed a residency on the Show Band Show. http://www.irish-showbands.com/images/dodd/jdxdominoes.htm

In 1965 PJ left Ballina to join the Michael O’Cal

PJ played with the Michael O’Callaghan for 7 years where he met is wife Eithne and was married in 1969. PJ pursued a solo career from 1972-1977 in Cork before returning to Ballina to open the PJ Duffy Inn, Jazz Pub, where he is currently in residence.

HERE AT NA STIOFÁNAIGH WE ARE CELEBRATING MAYO DAY ON SUNDAY MAY THE 1st.
A fun car treasure has been organised and all interested parties can register for €10 per team and depart from the club house on Lord Edward Street any time between 3 and 4pm on return everyone is invited upstairs for food-refreshments-banter-prizegiving and some great music from the talented youngsters from Gort na mBó céili band. This event is suitable for all ages and we encourage you all to dress up as all things Mayo - The car too! Maigheo Go Deo!

The annual Bord na nOg quizi s taking place on Friday Dec. 11th, @ 9pm in the Ballina Stephenites Clubhouse (€5 per head/table of 4 €20).
There will be a social gathering after with a raffle with plenty of spot prizes.

Car Treasure Hunting time in Ballina this July - Monday the 6th from P.J. Duffy's bar on Clare St., with cars departing any time between 6:00 and 7:30 p.m. - Fun event for all ages and family friendly too. Fabulous beer garden where the kids are welcome to explore and the adults too! This is a totally 'fun' event with plenty of 'banter' so come along and enjoy our 'Pre Fest Treasure test' as we embark on the highways and byways of our rural area - €20 per team - fun prizes too!

Well the sun continues to shine and after an amazing day out down Quay side on Saturday (well done to you all) and the buzz in the town centre as all the cannon ballers rallied through to a great reception - once again Well Done Ballina - not finished yet...an absolute cracker of a Jazz session on Tuesday night.... September 16th with hugely talented guests visiting and jamming all the way from the US and the UK and of course local musicians too! Oh yes - and one of the finest beer gardens to enjoy the western sunsets - see you all down by the banks of the Moy!
