Time to start walking again , out for a bit of practice in the woods around Portlaw. Last year with bad weather ☁️ and increased workload, we did nothing, can't let that happen this year. So our plan this year is a few tracks like the Wicklow way.

2 weeks ago , we left the road and took to the waters. We spent 2 nights on islands on lough Ree. I always wanted to bake bread and I baked my first loaf of bread in a Dutch oven. Tomorrow we will canoe the river Barrow and camp along the way.

Day 3 coast to coast. 9 counties walked in so far ,a bit to go yet
We got to the far side of Maynooth 32km and totally wrecked
What amazing weather for this , 8km along stopped for a coffee at Ashtown or lock 10, the coffee was cheaper than for a takeaway coffee in Spar in Cahersiveen last week.

Don't worry we won't burn the place, relaxing in our campsite for the night. #thelongwayayaroundireland #leavenotrace
ST Mullens to Ballyhack stopped in New Ross for food and next to find our wild camping spot.
I have always looked forward to tomorrow because no matter how bad this day is tomorrow is a brand new day.
#climbwithcharlie
Yesterday morning myself and Sue climbed with Charlie but not in Croagh Patrick but a much easier and smaller Mt leinster.
We only raised a few 100 euro because we got side tracked with Ukraine where we raised nearly €4,000. Of course we didn't want to do anything to make Ben and Chaimae any less important.

DAY 1 The Barrow Way
Last Saturday myself and Sue started walking the Barrow way as Covid19 restrictions prevent us from walking the coast just yet.
Very early Saturday morning we started at Robertstown Co Kildare, it’s still a short walk to where the Grand canal and the Barrow Canal split at Lowtown. There is quite a lot of work going on making the track into a greenway, so at times you must use the opposite side , mostly ok but do not use the alternative side before Rathangan , if you do you will come out in the old sewage works and its difficult to get out through a small opening in the gate.
This first leg we walked 34km and pulled 16kg in our new wheelie cart from Radical design www.radicaldesign.com they are costly but well worth it.
We finished up the day at Fisherstown bridge Co Laois 34km. Have to say we felt great, not sore or tired.
The next day we walked 37km to Carlow, yes tired and wrecked after that.
Tomorrow we start in Carlow, I will increase the weight in the cart and walk less, we are trying to see what our limit is for both walking and carrying.

Back on the road Ireland is Opening up
Great news tonight , I think so anyway , freedom to move around the country from the 10th of May.
We will continue on the Barrow way for the near future and soon we will be back on our walk around Irelands coast starting in Passage East Co Waterford.
Last weekend we walked from Robertstown in Kildare to Carlow 70km in 2 day , we kind of pushed ourselves to see what our limit is. That would be 28 to 30km.

This morning we walked 18km from Fisherstown to Athy, after a bite to eat we will try and get to Carlow
