Christopher & Catherine from Poland, highly recommend exchanging houses with Rae & John in Cyprus. "Our hosts' house is a beautifully restored inside and outside historic residence, with wonderful Cypriot furniture and original trinkets. There are several terraces in the house, including one covered on the roof, from which we have a breathtaking view of both - the sea and the mountains (with the ruins of the Crusader castle). A light breeze from the sea meant, that even in summer it was never too hot there. Just like in a fairy tale. We had the impression that we were losing years while admiring these views. We were lucky (which is not always the case in parallel exchanges) to meet our hosts after our return from Cyprus to Poland. Rae and John are extremely nice and helpful people in every situation."

From Mark & Rachel, UK: We loved our holiday in Cape Cod, it really is a special place to stay. If you want to relax and love beaches and beautiful scenery, this is the place for you! There are also numerous picturesque towns to explore, all with their own character and some fantastic walks and cycle rides. Bill and Debbie could not have been more welcoming. We enjoyed spending time in their beautiful house and on the deck and East Sandwich is perfectly situated for great days out. Thanks to you Bill and Debbie!

Modern Home, Spectacular ocean views! Robin and Colin kindly provided everything we needed for a family holiday at the beach. We, our daughter and two grandsons were all thrilled with their spacious and comfortable home with it's lovely deck and stunning coastal views. Woolgoolga is a delightful and very friendly small seaside town with a good range of local shops, restaurants and cafes. Plenty to explore in the area if you can drag yourself away. We particularly enjoyed whale watching from the house and the headland, walking and ball games on the beaches on both sides of the headland and trying our hand at fishing in the lagoon. Highlights were surf lessons for the young boys (kindly set up by Robin), the Woolgoolga Curryfest and of course a trip to the Big Banana! This week we share a glowing evaluation from our members, Peter and Ann, on their recent exchange to France:

We had a most wonderful exchange with Patrice and Barbara.We felt immediately at home in their beautiful (and perfectly air conditioned) house in Cadiere d' Azur. The photos do not do justice to the beautiful view. Swimming in the great pool , first with the vineyard all around you and then in the distance the sea. Then in the evening watching the memorable sunsets. When we arrived the fridges were full of their own freshly picked vegetables and fruit, and during our stay friends of theirs brought us to the vegetable plot to pick the most delicious tomatoes ,melons and vegetables, and which was such fun. They also generously left us so much of Patrice's delicious wine which we really enjoyed! The region is one of our favourite with many small villages with local markets, and the sea close by also. Our favourite however was La Cadiere d'Azur , just minutes away. We visited the bakery there everyday to get breakfast and enjoyed so much coffee on the square while people watching. We would love to return to the area again there is so much more to do and see. Thank you so very much Patrice and Barbara for a special exchange.

This is typical of the feedback we receive from our members following their wonderful exchange experiences. This member visited Canada - Niagara-on-the-Lake:

Wonderful exchange. Beautiful home, so comfortable, fantastic location, great hosts. Shelagh & Rob had left everything ready for us with lots of useful information. We enjoyed their home both inside and out. Hot tub on the deck was great. We watched a hummingbird in the garden as we breakfasted outside. Niagara-on-the-Lake is such a wonderful town, so charming as were the people we met. Lovely shops with not a chain store in sight. It was great. Plenty of places to eat and Cheese Secrets was a particular favourite. We ordered a cheese and charcuterie board from them and it was terrific. They were so helpful.

We walked along the shoreline of Lake Ontario a mere stones throw from the house. We visited many wineries for tasting and eating lunch. We enjoyed Toronto but the boat trip at Niagara Falls was terrific. We visited the many towns in the area and had only good experiences. Couldn’t recommend these hosts and their home enough. Did you know that the cost to rent a 2/3 bed house or apartment somewhere like the south of Ireland or the UK for one week for a family of two adults and two children this year comes in at approximately €1500 - €1900 - yes for one week in early August. The same in France - if you are prepared to rent several kilometres from a beach - and more if you wish to be near a beach! Then of course you would need a car. So car rental rates have gone through the roof this year too. The link on our own site to Auto Europe displays, for example, a mid size car hire rate from Toulouse airport at between €550 - €625 per week.

So isn't it wonderful to have discovered a different, more comfortable, more personal way to holiday while making all those saving. Swapping homes and cars allows you to keep these saving in your pocket while at the same time enjoying the comforts of a home from home holiday.

One of our HomeLink organisers calculates her savings recently at €10,800! Yes, she stayed for 3 week in a 3bed home in France that would have rented for at least €3k per week and she had the use of her swappers car too so between the two she believes her savings where huge. So swapping homes and cars brings great benefits and of course you can stay for longer too without it adding to the costs.
