Mushroomstuff We are Bill O'Dea and Freda O'Dea. We do wild mushroom hunts with the option of cooking your catch in the forest.

Bill O’Dea is a passionate Irish mycophagist who has been running mushroom hunts in Ireland and abroad since 1996. He also speaks internationally at Mushroom festivals in Spain, France and Turkey. His hunts in Ireland have been covered and recommended by RTE TV(Corrigan knows food, Nationwide,Living the Wildlife, Neven Maguire), TV3, TG4, Irish Times, Irish Independent, Examiner, Sunday Independen

t,RTE 1 Radio(Morning Ireland, Mooney goes wild, ), Sunday Business Post(Ross Golden Bannon top ten events of the year), Food and Wine magazine, and others. As well as his love of gathering and eating wild mushrooms, Bill enjoys sharing his knowledge on the fascinating, amusing and sometimes horrific aspects of fungi and their relationship to the planet and the other natural kingdoms. Bill runs several public mushroom hunts in Autumn every year and is also available for private events. He has enjoyed sharing his passion with groups including chefs, university/college, slow food and mushroom/food festivals.

Following on from the harrowing but excellent reporting by this week we continue to appeal to you to download the PAW Ireland wildlife crime reporting app.

In the recent budget Minister Noonan announced more supports for combating wildlife crime which was great to hear, but we need to see these come into effect with more boots on the ground and appropriate training for both NPWS rangers and An Garda Suíochána.

Social media also has a responsibility to shut down the accounts of the criminals involved in these barbaric acts of gratuitous violence against defenceless animals.

St George's still popping in suburban Dublin.

Great mushroom hunt at Killruddery today. Lots of eaters including Ceps, Bay Boletes, Honey, Parasols, Blewitts, Puffballs, Saffron Milk Caps and Scarletinas. Chef Niall served an amazing Cep ice cream and other treats. Thanks to Deirdre Gaffney and Ger for manning the mushroom Pans. And Freda for managing everything and covering Mushroom Dyeing.

An exCEPtionally good day. Good range of eaters and lots of Ceps and Flyagarics.

Mushrooms popping everywhere incl. Tasty Fairy ring champignons.

People often ask how long it takes mushrooms to grow. Well it varies by type but this is a good indicator with Parasols after a three day gap.The parasols have blossomed nicely.
