✨Christmas in Lourdes ✨

The Sanctuary staff have prepared several cribs or nativity scenes that always attract the pilgrims and visitors over the Christmas period. They are placed at different points around the Sanctuary, inside St Joseph's and St Michael's Gates, at the Grotto, in the basilicas...

Some of the local parishes are renewing with an old tradition and are 'inviting' locals and passersby to visit the small village churches over Christmas week to see the cribs / nativity scenes ....'la ronde des creches' is a tradition of visiting the churches to see the cribs with their 'santons' (figures); santons meaning the 'saints hommes', the holy holy men. It is a tradition which is still very much alive in the South of France.
