Hi there, thanks for your interest! Medieval Dublin Walking Tour is a brainchild of Pageant Wagon Theatre Co. (www.facebook.com/pageantwagon). Our love and enthusiasm for history and stories has led us to delve into a city that sadly has all but vanished. So, meet Anna, a mason's sister, Andrew, a thatcher or Siofra, a merchant's daughter and let them tell you about their town. They'll bring you a

long the old wall and deep into medieval Dublin:
❥Dare to discover a long lost city. Hear tales of Vikings and of escaped slaves, of women warriors and gruesome executions.
❥Follow Dublin’s riveting medieval history from Viking market town to Norman city, scourged by wars, fire, the plague and a betrayal of epic proportions.
❥Was there really a “Talking Cross”? Did Fyngole McTorkoill actually spring her husband from Dublin Castle? How did you keep your shoes clean in a medieval town? Where were the old city gates and the wall, and why did the “Kissing Stone” moan and rock back and forth? We are offering tours to schools and travel companies. We are also accepting PRIVATE BOOKINGS at a price of
€12pp for a group of 10 upwards,
€15pp with a minimum of 8 people attending
or for
€20pp for 6/7 people attending. . Every so often we will announce a public tour on Facebook and if the necessary numbers are reached it'll go ahead. For bookings please call 086-8148168. The tours are available in English and German. Thank you and fare thee well!

An ancient dye more precious than gold, the search for its lost recipe and the fear that it might get lost all over again - fascinating article!!

For millennia, Tyrian purple was the most valuable colour on the planet. Then the recipe to make it was lost. By piecing together ancient clues, could one man bring it back?

This is literally one of the most exciting news articles I've read recently. Look at this! The state of preservation of this sword! The detail of the hilt! The condition the blade is in! And those arrowheads, as if someone just bought them 😄 What an incredible find, such a treasure!! Can't get over it...😍🤩

The weapon was uncovered in the town of Nördlingen in Bavaria.

This is fascinating stuff!

Logboats “sleeping” at the bottom of the river Boyne

I spotted a third logboat in the river Boyne at Drogheda this morning using my drone. It is positioned near the northern bank of the Boyne some 270m west of the Bridge of Peace.

Ever wondered about where our place-names or road-names come from? For example, Leopardstown, a district in Dublin, has nothing to do with Leopards at all: in the 14th Century a l***r hospital was built near St Stephen's Green. It was later moved out to the Dublin mountains and the area where it was sited became known as Leperstown (Irish: Baile na Lobhar, meaning "Town of the Lepers"). Over the years this got changed to Leopardstown!
