Congratulations to The Station House (@stationhh) on joining @irelandsbluebook collection of boutique beautiful properties of Ireland. 40-years ago, Chris & Thelma Slattery, along with their very young five children, had a dream to open a country house, not too far from Dublin City, yet next to the High Kings of Tara (keeping it royal)!! They bought Kilmessan Station, a quaint train station, once serving the Dublin - Kingscourt line. What first became their home, soon after, became their life style. Thelma in the kitchen (what a cook!!) and Chris ‘front of house’ (what a character!!). The children slowly learning the tricks and trade of the business, with no choice but to work hard and get stuck in!! 40-years later, they have turned what was a quirky home-from-home hotel, into what can only be described as a one-of-a-kind stylish country retreat in the heart of the Boyne Valley, just 40 minutes from the city of Dublin.
These ‘made with love’ properties and rich in heritage destinations , are what @oomitravel stands for.
The Station House (@stationhh) is home to @darina.slattery, founder of @oomitravel. The life long lessons growing up with curious minds, visiting her home most of her life, have inspired her to share the great Irish welcome to her guests in Ireland, Japan & India (new!). Darina has been curating tours to Japan and Ireland for 20-years, using her local expertise and knowledge while living between both countries.

For those seeking to discover off the beaten path destinations away from the typical tourist hotspots,
Japan may well be the country with the most hidden gem destinations to discover. It has a huge domestic tourism industry, most of which has not yet been discovered by international tourists.
This boat experience in Fukushima is just one of many fabulous experiences in that prefecture, just a short bullet train ride bother of Tokyo and yet is rarely visited by foreign visitors.
