The Burren is a unique karst landscape located in County Clare, Ireland, known for its striking limestone terrain and ecological diversity. Spanning approximately 530 square kilometers, it features vast pavements of exposed rock, interspersed with cracks, caves, and underground streams. Despite its rocky appearance, the Burren supports a rich variety of flora, blending Arctic, Mediterranean, and Alpine species.
This region also boasts a wealth of archaeological sites, including ancient tombs, stone forts, and Celtic crosses, reflecting its long history of human habitation.
