Pinch me ! We are absolutely over the moon with this news. What used to feel like a pipe dream has become a dream come true. Blood sweat and tears went into getting this holiday rental off the ground, but somehow, we pulled through. We are excited to see what 2024 brings!

The Way of the Cross, Knockalla Mountain, Co. Donegal.
The Way of The Cross is an unusual, striking pilgrimage walk on the edge of Knockalla mountain with the Stations of the Cross for silent contemplation along the way. There are three impressive crosses and a Mass Altar at the top. Whatever your beliefs, this is an awe inspiring and peaceful place which still plays an active role in the area. Access to the walk is from the village of Glenvar. The views of Lough Swilly, Fort Dunree, and the Urris Hills are stunning.

🎉Shed Appreciation Post🎉 Swipe to the very end to see this reno *in reverse* and how we originally found this shed. It looked like an easy fix, but let me tell you, that walk-in cooler, which was storage for the old cafe/diner, was anything but easy. 😅 This shed is now the ultimate hangout and a highlight for our guests. We kept the original stone walls, upcycled old fire doors from the cafe, used leftover paint and 2nd hand furniture from here and there. Now, who loves a good shed party? 🥳

Also, a big thank you to Falcarpentry for installing the doors and fixing up the woodwork and Alex's Dad, Aidan, for his pro painting skills 😀

Throwback Part 6: All we can say here is swipe right to see the mountain of carpet that filled the living room 😅 What do you think of this before and after?

Throwback Part 5: For this bathroom glow up, we expanded the main bathroom by closing off the hallway to divide the house. This allowed space for a tub and shower. The smaller toilet is extra special with a Japanese toilet seat 😉 With all its whistles and bells, it was inspired by a visit to Osaka, Japan many years ago. One does not simply go back to life as normal when you've experienced such a luxury 🤣 You could say it's been a conversation piece and raised a few eyebrows. That's when we knew we did something right 😆 What do you think?

Throwback Part 4: This holiday rental has 3 bedrooms on the 1st floor. The master bedroom includes upcycled wardrobes that were originally in two separate rooms. We modernized them by removing the trim, changed the handles and painted the doors. The twin room, which we still call the "purple room" 😆 is bright and spacious and includes a desk and office chair (not shown) for those who need a quiet working space. We kept the original wardrobe in the double room, changed the hardware and freshened it up with paint making the room feel brighter. This is the perfect house for a group of 6 with lots of space to work with. 😀 What do you think?

Throwback Part 3: The kitchen is one area where we separated the original cafe/diner to have a separate 3 bedroom house. To the right of the range, there used to be a door into the diner area. We closed this off to create more counter space and flow to the kitchen. The cupboards and hardware were upcycled, keeping everything at eye level bright with a bold blue at the bottom. This is "Eastcoast Blue" found at Bluestack, Falcarragh. The funky floor tiles were a bold move which you either love or hate 🤣 What do you think?

Throwback Part 2: We removed a wall between 2 separate living spaces to make it feel more open and kept everything bright and neutral. The woodstove didn't work out as planned as we thought it would be an "easy" move to the front room. That wasn't a fun day when we learned the front chimney was blocked after already filling in the 2nd working chimney 😭 We eventually upcycled an electric fire that someone was giving away and that was the end of that. Flicking the switch is pretty handy in fairness 👌😎 and you know the price of turf these days 😆 What do you think?
