We have some toad-ally good news✨🐸

Today 500 natterjack toadlets were released in the sand dunes at Inch by Oceanworld aquarists Maria Foley and Stephen Boyle, Niall Ó Donnchú the Director General of the NPWS, and Minister Malcolm Noonan.

Being Ireland’s rarest amphibian and only native toad, natterjack toad conservation is extremely important! In order to combat their high mortality rate in the wild, NPWS rangers collect toad spawn from native populations on the Di**le Peninsula which are then raised at Oceanworld until reaching the toadlet stage and returned to their natural habitat. Thanks to the care of our dedicated staff and NPWS rangers, nearly 2,550 natterjack toads will be released this season!

Poulnabrone dolmen (from the Irish Poll na Brón, meaning 'Hole of Sorrow') is a large dolmen located in the Burren, County Clare. Situated on one of the region's most desolate and highest points, it comprises three standing portal stones supporting a heavy horizontal capstone and dates to the early Neolithic period, with estimates from 4200 BC to 2900 BC. Although not the largest, it is perhaps the best known of the approximately 172 dolmens in Ireland.
