My first job in furniture making goes back to 1995 when I started my first job in a furniture factory in Dunshaughlin, Co.Meath. Having remained there for several years, I became disillusioned with mass produced products, I left the furniture industry and went onto pursue different career paths. In 2010, I was made redundant due to the economic crisis, I took advantage of the situation I found mys
elf in and channelled all of my energies into returning to education. I started in NUI Maynooth as a mature student on a one night a week course and subsequently went on to study Furniture Design in Cavan Institute. Having successfully completed my year in Cavan I was very fortunate to be offered a place in the renowned furniture college in GMIT Letterfrack, where I graduated in 2015 with a Bsc Degree in Furniture Design and Manufacture. During this period I also spent some time in England gaining valuable experience on high – end projects with a very reputable company, Benchmark Furniture. I am influenced by so many things, from mid – century design, shaker design to everyday objects that we use in our lives. My designs are minimalist, practical, refined, functional and contemporary. I believe that good design has a vital role to play in our lives and must add value to the end user. All our designs are carefully handmade using only the best graded hardwoods and finely selected veneers in our workshop in Navan.
